Monacor SP-200X TQWT

Hi all guys, I'm reading a lot on this interesting site, and I'd like to understand from you how I can go about finding the right design to make a tqwt with this full range. Obviously then, if necessary, a tweeter or supertweeter will be implemented (suggestions are accepted). The whole thing will be driven by a single ended el84. For now I have seen two interesting simulations, but with somewhat different parameters. One from the abmade site and one from the mh-audio.nl site

How to proceed?

What are you wondering about?
You have received two calculations on slightly different frequencies. One at 34
hz and the other at 50hz. Flavor which one chooses.
The box will be larger if you choose a lower frequency.
I think I choose about 38hz.

The second project is also 33.7(f3) and I don't understand this...same frequency but different cabinet dimensions. I would just like to listen even at low volume living in an apartment building with decent bass. currently the monacor is minted in a closed 25-litre box with a support tweeter and performs well, I just want more bass and avoid a subwoofer. I only have the limit of the amplifier that more than 4-5w is wrong.

The calculator you are using is just guessing. You need to use a proper modeler, HornResp these days.dave
And every Voigt should be Mass-Loaded as the shape ushes the unwanted harmonics down in frequency and bunches them closer so teh extra LP afforded by the mass-loading makes a significant improvement.

Can you give us more details about your amp?
Single ended with EL84 most likely has output impedance of couple ohms.
In effect, Qts of driver will rise significantly. And Qts of that Monacor a bit high already.

If you take that into account, I think ML-TL (Mass Loaded Transmission Line) with some good amount of stuffing should be more suitable.
Something similar to 'Pensil' with Markaudio drivers for eg.
But, such cabinet has to be modeled in a Hornresp (or similar) for optimum results.

ok, thanks for your suggestions! the amplifier is a project made by a friend, I don't know the specific characteristics. anyway i tried to use hornresp but i couldn't figure it out. do you think the 70 liter tqwt is not suitable? I would like to try, then eventually if it doesn't go I will proceed with a reflex as suggested to me.

The whole thing will be driven by a single ended el84.

Greets!

Without knowing the amp's output impedance (series resistance) can only assume it's a matching impedance, so adding 8 ohms: Qts' = 0.843

Haven't vetted the ABmade designer, but the MH-AUDIO.NL has proven to be just a 'better than nothing' option IME.

As for a 1st approximation, using a standard max flat vented box alignment:

Vented net volume (Vb) (L) = 20*Vas*Qts'^3.3 = ~546.4 L

Vented box tuning (Fb) (Hz) = 0.42*Fs*Qts'^-0.96 = 24.74 Hz Fb

So at this point I assume you'll have to tell us what your max HxWxD you can tolerate and we'll do what we can with it.

ok, in terms of dimensions the mh-audio project suited me, I would like to understand if it is valid by comparing it with a simulation made ad hoc because in the meantime I got the wood to do it. otherwise you tell me, it's not a problem, and thanks in the meantime for the precious help!
