Smoking. Do you smoke? Why and what do you smoke? Why not?

We used cigarettes to light fireworks, M80's and cherry-bombs -- there was a trick in the film "Stalag 17" in which a cig was used as a slow-fuse! It works indeed! I think that the first time I had a cigarette was when I was about 10 years old.

Occasionally will have a cigarette when I have to deal with my wife's nephews. I don't find the smoke distasteful, and the aroma of "Kents" reminds me of my pop!

I stopped smoking combustion cigarettes a few years ago but carried on with electric ones.
I get much less coughing and masses less cost.
Combustion cigarettes just smell of old times.
The things now cost over £10. That is 15 bucks.
Weed is still "naughty" here in the UK.

I am 56 old and i was smoking for decades. it is the ealy bad habit and serious addiction. For some Years I changed from packed cigarettes to rolling tobacco. And it was significant decrease of peaces. I think double. But manufacturers are actually but so small quantities of ral tobacco leaves in the cigarettes. And this tobacco for rolling too. Thera are much more colored cardboard, paper or something? It could be seen naked eye...
So that addiction is not coming from the nicotine because there are not many real tobacco in.
And nicotine is "only" poison. Other things are much more dangerous in industrial cigarettes. there are about 400 substaces in cigarettes. Most of them are very poisones, dangerous... The on of the worst thing is that when We light the cigarette, or take a smoke, in that moment the temperature is about the 700deg. Some substances are triggered to emission of alpha radiation. That radiation directly going into the troath and respiratory system... 🙁
.Second, the tar is huge problem that with combination of constant small particle radiation initiate the cancer...
Another BIG issue is carbon oxides. It is tremendous amount of saturation level in organism. A friend, smoker ho want to quit by hospital program regularly measure CO. And this is why we constantly tired. Also significantly more depressed... COs and tar is common for any type of smoking.
Also the type of the cigarettes are causing different outcomes. One with filter preventing Oxygen and there are more risk for heart attack and stroke, other without filter are letting more oxygen but also more tar. Anyway when we talked about the tar the filters are not doing much. Some research find that filter should be long 1.4m...
Anyway people who don't smoke don't believe smokers how scary the addiction is oftenly make a fun of it...
My wife was 2 times quit smoking, with idea to finish for good. That was whan she was pregnant and miking period of more than year, about less that 2 years booth times. And always she quickly after, back in for cigarettes. 🙁
One strange story illustrating the level of addiction told me one russinagy former military diver, who oftenly fixing thigs uderwater in that big suite. He simply have to smoke one cigarette IN that helmet... 🙁 But he quit. Also told me that some doctor say that smoker should not be in close contact with child for 20min after the cigarette. Some dangerous particles are still in the breath.
The real, untreated with pesticides, natural tobacco leaves are different story and they are significantly less health dangerous. But of course still very dangerous. It is very hard to obtain these type of tobacco for rolling because of the very strict law restriction. It is illegal to sell tobacco free in all countries. Still some coud obtain that tobaco and it is very different from industrial one. Usually have longer fibers, it looks like golden ochre, and taste is good. But nicotine, tar, COs, lack of Oxygen, are still present. 🙁

Visit a cancer clinic....in India chewing tobacco and 'bidis', a pinch of tobacco in a leaf, are the majority killers.
Bidis are 25 cents for 20, barely taxed, and consumed by poor people who hardly eat properly.
I quit in 2018, no regrets, after smoking on and off from 1985.
Dentist told me signs of fibrous mucosa on inside of cheeks, danger. That was enough incentive to quit cigarettes.

Had my first in 1972 (I was 10). Started smoking more in high school (and lots of weed) and continued through college. My daughter was born in 2001 and I throttled way back on all of it.

I might have one cigarette a year now like when drinking. Most times I can’t finish it.

Still have the odd doobie although I prefer edibles.

Back in the early 90’s when I was still smoking, my wealthier brother in law and I went to a posh cigar store in Toronto and he bought two Cohiba Robusto’s. Really big cigars. After dinner we sparked em up and it was a ******* commitment. After about 40 mins I remember thinking, God I can’t wait until this thing is done so I can have a cigarette!
