Kinda late reply, but I built the Sony VFET DIY amp using two Sony 2sj18’s from banjo. I used Mark Johnson’s Missouri front end, and a ship of theseus power filter, mounted in a 4U alum. chassis.

It’s been in my system now for 5 months, and it sounds great. I have it hooked to a pair of Zu Soul speakers with a 10 inch Aperion subwoofer. MINI DSP preamp. Clear and smooth. My best sounding amp so far. I previously had a NAD integrated amp, then I built a pair of AMP camp AMP’s used as mono-blocks. The Sony VFET is the best sounding yet. I’m probably done building amps for a bit with this in the system. Highly recommended.
