Anybody recognize this book?

I spent the afternoon going down memory lane looking thru all my old papers and books from the 80's and early 90's when I was intensely into building SS and tube amps and came across this photocopy I made, chapter 7 out of a book on audio, semi's or ?? I just skimmed thru it for now but it looks extremely interesting and goes into SITs and MOSFETs etc. and is completely relevant to what we mainly build here today. I'm guessing it was published in the early 80's??

I'm hoping someone might recognize it (Pa??) and let us know the title so we could maybe find it online, otherwise, I may have to fire up the old scanner and scan it one page at a time so I can share it with everyone here.

Back to reading...

Cheers

Could be an older edition of Audio Power Amplifier Design Handbook by Douglas Self.

Reads as more even-handed towards audiophiles than anything I've come across from Mr Self. Maybe JLH?

As regards the date, apparently Yamaha was the first to use a power FET in a commercial amp in 1974. So seems highly unlikely to be from the 60s.

Publishers in England were usually guilty of that, they would re-use the same printing plates / films in successive editions, and update only the last reference / bibliography pages.

Their small volumes and Commonwealth copyright nonsense meant that the books were in smaller fonts and cheaper paper than American books, particularly texts, which had larger fonts, more space for notes on the margins, and better quality paper.
The British edition was cheaper to print, as it used less, and cheaper, paper...
Price was about the same, but the American books showed up here only if the British did not publish that book in India.

If you do have the entire book, the first pages may have some information about the first published date, and later editions.
That is authentic, or last pages would have mostly references from the first or second edition, so will give a better idea of the date.

I based my opinion on the fact that the chapter number is in lower case letters, and the title font went out of fashion when the Beatles arrived on the scene, so about 1965.
The references to tape decks, and stereo FM are also pointers, may give a better idea.

The Beatles and their peers were a major influence on changing the appearance of things, society became more liberal, some aspects as fat ladies without inner wear were not so welcome....

Here are a few more pages...

And no I don't have the book, just these copied pages.

Reading these few pages it seems the whole book is about semi's or amplification devices as they reference MOSFETs being discussed in CH 2. I'll have time to read the whole chapter this week, getting ready for a busy work week.

Look like lecture notes, so British for sure, from the 7.2... and so on.
Find a British academic who has audio background, enough to give design classes, and his lectures to be published, and there you are.

If the book is relevant of course, the basic theory is always there, but the application may use different devices now.
