LOOK, MA!......BLUE!

The year this was introduced, I saw it at the Samsung booth at CES - asked the question that was sort of obvious to me: for an amplifier with 6 channels (5.1) - how were the 4 triodes contained in a pair of 12AX7 tubes allocated? I got the answer I expected - a bunch of tap dancing.
Would you believe 3 12AX7 in a Mark Vincent 7:1 receiver? 🙄

The full Tube Truth [tm] starts at 22:50 but the whole video is worth watching, at least once, it´s HILARIOUS!!!

Yes, it includes Blue Leds of course, so it´s relevant to this thread 😉

Hey, blue on black, tears on a river

Push on a shove, it don't mean much

Joker on jack, match on a fire

Cold on ice, a dead man's touch

Whisper on a scream, doesn't change a thing

Don't bring you back... (the original recorded sound that is...)

Blue on black, oh yeah...

I misunderstood, sorry. I thought your friend got the receiver done by someone else. Here in germany there are loads of shops that will give any old receiver the instagram ultrabright LED look for a lot of money. I was thinking of something like that.

Should have been more precise. I meant to describe how the reddit crowd goes purely by looks. Of course there are receivers that a) were mid price b) had that pompous look and c) sound good, but I doubt that there are many. The ones I see posted have the looks but don't impress with much else.
All good.

Ya know???
I had that SAME piece of crap come into the shop one day!
I laughed as hard as the guy in the video!
Naturally, I didn't waste my time with it, I told the guy who brought it in to toss it in the garbage.

Actually...it connects to a vacuum sensor in the bong, so that the music gets quieter as you hit, then goes back up when you release. Kinda like the arrangement that automatically turns down the stereo when you pick up a phone call.

How's that for imagination? ;')
Don't give these people ideas!
Before you know it, there will be threads about a vacuum-controlled volume/muting circuit. 😱

But of course it'd have to be wireless - and be able to learn those volume up / down commands from anyone's remote.
How about just adding the tube (with the obligatory blue LED) to the stereo's remote control? It could give the owner a physical manifestation of the added "warmth" right in the palm of his hand!

"But of COURSE it's in the signal path! Look, it sits right next to the volume buttons!"
