It's not bad enough that I'm overdosed on TV, Radio ads for that annoying recent Camp Lejune lawsuit crap.
....today the phone rings..... it's some hindi-sounding guy claiming to be part of the Camp Lejune crap.
I told him to give me a freakin' break from that scam, and hung up on the creep.
Anybody else tired of this crap?

Only school tax is frozen in TX. I turn 65 next year, so that will freeze. School is around 1/2 the tax, so instead of 10%/yr it will be around 5%/yr. But that is still a very significant number when your prop tax is your biggest expense by far. Cal was 2%/yr max. Here in Philly, as a homeowner, once you turn 65, you can apply for a Tax Freeze, so even if property taxes increase, you're "locked in" to that fixed amount at the time you applied the freeze.

I cancelled my landline and eliminated 90% of my junk and scam calls. I'd had that number for 1/4 century and I guess it was just out there for too long. Now I use only a cell phone and if I get too much junk I'll just 'retire' the number and get another one. The good thing about my cell phone is that it has call display which I was never willing to pay for on my landline. With call display it's easy to screen calls.
I do the same with email, one email address for my family, another for websites etc. and if that gets junk I'll trash it and use another.

Mine was fine until a third party company handling home delivery for the hardware crypto wallet Ledger got hacked. Name, address, phone number and email instantly dispersed across the scammer ecosystem. Fortunately the email address was created only for communication with Ledger and is disposable.I guess it was just out there for too long.
On the positive side the experience kept me out of the crypto market.

I would’ve hoped your good sense kept you away from the crypto nonsense 🙂
You think you have it rough, here in Allegheny County we have an extra 7% tax on BEER OF ALL THINGS!! AAAUGGGGH!!Here in Philadelphia, the worthless Mayor passed a "Soda Tax" bill on the premise/claim that it would lower people's intake of sugary drinks, and improve their health.
The tax was a "per ounce" sort of thing.
A sneaky form of manipulating and milking the public..... which took a 0.99 cent bottle of soda and then added an additional $2.00 tax on top of it.
People then went outside the city to buy their sweet beverages.
Does "Hi Buddy!" count? 🙂 🙂 🙂If you do call me, what would you call me?
LOL!
Lord knows, I've been called a lot of things!
OMG and to think that I grew up (my better half utterly disagrees that I have yet) in Pittsburgh. A beer tax is the next worst thing to taxing your dreams. You think you have it rough, here in Allegheny County we have an extra 7% tax on BEER OF ALL THINGS!! AAAUGGGGH!!
Ya know, years ago when I was in my 20's, hitting a bar or disco scene, a beer was $1.25, wine maybe $2.00
And sometimes the Specials were $0.99!
But NOW?
Holy crap..... friends of mine went out to dinner the other week and told me a lousy goblet of wine was $10!

Ya I know tell me about it.🤦🏼. They got us all by the throats. I need a PTO clutch for my 60 inch exmark and I work for a private school and I had to buy aftermarket part. The clutch went up from $385.00 to $630.00 in a year in a half. 🤦🏼. Aftermarket price was $300.00 plus it has a 13 month warranty and the exmark has a 90 day warranty. Plus I can replace the main bearing not in the exmark. So I understand waiting Almost 8 weeks or longer for the part. This is why am diy a lot less because of the prices on drivers and components. Sorry if I sound like a broken record.
So I hear....By 2030 you will own nothing and be happy about it.
However, they'll have to take all my (fired) ammunition first....

Me too. There's nothing scarier to me than being reduced to a drone in some centrally planned society. So the fear tactics have lost their effect on me. It's strangely liberating. So I hear....

Same here.... I don't scare easily.Me too. There's nothing scarier to me than being reduced to a drone in some centrally planned society. So the fear tactics have lost their effect on me. It's strangely liberating.
But that's what 'they' count on.... creating fear, doom and gloom daily.
People generally, I would assume, want to live their lives in peace and harmony, not dealing with disruption.
Thankfully, I don't succumb or subscribe to the BS on those social media sites - they're enough to make anybody nuts in the head.
We can send a message by SMS to the phone service provider, and if it is violated, there is a Government body to handle complaints.
It works for cell phones.
Land lines are less than 2% of connections now, few people have them.

Last time I was in Benares I took a picture of the cloud of telephone lines which obscured the sun -- but that was a generation ago!Land lines are less than 2% of connections now, few people have them.
My brother-in-law asked why we didn't pick up the land-line phone (he lives in the UK). Apparently they don't have the issue.
Getting back to topic (ahem). Diammonium Phosphate prices are down a few hundred bucks per ton since early summer, TiO2 prices are probably going to hit the skids...
Unfortunately, the USD is stronger than moose-breath with the result being the export of US inflation to the rest of the world.
Here it was corruption all through the monopoly government owned system, and cheap cell plans.
I pay less than $10 for 3 months of calls, and 1.5 GB data daily, for my cell phone, the land line was $12 a month, and 1.5 GB data for the entire month.
We had to give gifts on festivals to the line men, or your lines would mysteriously stop working....
And the cables would be buried only 30 cm deep, instead of 1 meter, at the mercy of diggers in a country with a construction boom. Corrupt staff passed the bills for shoddy work by contractors paying them off.
We ended up being made to pay for 12 months, and line worked for about 4.
So, customers walked away...now less than 10% of the staff are left, and they are saying just surrender your phone, no people left to fix it.
The USA has no government employment in most sectors...banks, phones, even defense production, for example.
Ensures efficiency and competition.
A bit political, I hope mods don't take offense.
