Anybody here have any knowledge regarding the current state of the art in DML/BMR products?
Specifically, if I want to bring a DML-based product to market, then do I assume that the patents and licensing fees are included in the drivers that I purchase from any arbitrary manufacturer, or do I need to pay licensing fees to some schmo for the hard work and I.P. that I've put into my panel designs?

The patents for DMLs expired some time ago which is why there are quite a few on the market. he originating company failed to get enuff licence agreements to stay in business.
They published a zillion AES papers on them. The company name eludes me ATM.

NXT, those ar ethe guys with the BMR patent.

A couple years before we started seeing them pop up as diy drivers.
Before that some products did turn up. I had a 2.1 multimedia system and the cardboard “pyramids” Target gave away when you bought a Sonic Imact Class D amp.

I'm not sure exactly what the NXT patents cover, and if they would still state that if the rights are now expired.
While there are exciters on the market, there are very few complete DML products, and only Tectonic in the pro audio sector.

NXT patents covered everything. They only had a smattering of licensees before the patent expired, and sometime after DML products started apperaong for diy.

Seems they started getting them about 2k, so 2013 would be an official license.
