What visual communications have we sent out in an effort to make contact? I mean messages that our own technology can convert to a visual representation from a telecommunications signal, ie: television, microwave, etc.?
I think that most of our comms leak to space just that inverse-square law makes it so that the photons are pretty spread apart once they get to any potential intelligent life bearing planetary system. I might be wrong tho.

I saw now parents buy bullet proofs back pack for their children while guns are still sold. We do not needs aliens to make themselves disseaper, imho. I agree that the whole "alien" topic is a convenient distraction from the very grave (and very real) issues we face as a society. It works!
Not far from where I live (Park Ridge) there was a shootout over a catalytic converter theft. This is a very expensive and exclusive community; it is unusual for this kind of incident to happen there. The thief shot at the homeowner when confronted and got away. But hey- Aliens! Maybe it's aliens that need all those catalytic converters! At least ten get stolen every single night. Only aliens would need so much palladium. It must be aliens!

My point is that Park Ridge has always been too expensive for riff-raff, and just far enough away from The City to have reasonably low crime and a high degree of safety.
