WTB Pink Floyd The Wall LP

Wanted to buy
What does this LP sell for in mint condition? Ours look fantastic 7 sound fantastic. So far I don't hear any defects. Both cleaned in a US bath. Curious. Not a 1st pressing. PAL3618510 from 1979. second pressing deadwax PBL36185-1a tml-m

With new pressings selling for $70-AuD what is so special about the first issue that the asking price can be as high as $500-
Did the master tapes degrade or did they only cut a single master pressing disc?
I've got 2 copies of DSotM and the quadraphonic version is different to the stereo even if I don't have a Q4 pre-amp

Don't know about other first pressings but the Canadian one with the black inners with white writing was discontinued because of complaints and a some litigation due to the awesome dynamic range. I did not find this out til a few years later when I brought mine to a record shop(I wore it out) and exchanged it for what I thought was the same except the inners were reversed to white with black print. Big disappointment. That's when I stopped playing it.

So I'm on the hunt. 🙂

The reason that a lot of first pressings, especially UK and US fetch such a high price is simple - they sound better. I remember buying Gene Clark's No Other on it's release, took it home, played it and thought it was a knockout.Had to take it round to my friend Barry Page a DJ, he raved over it too but it was a flop. Apparently this really shook Clark. Now of course it get rave reviews and goes for silly money.

There are exceptions. One of my favourite LPs, if not my favourite from the 70s' Is Joni's Herija. When I listen to that I'm back in the 70s'. In a lot of western countries life was easy, lots of work, great music of all kinds, you didn't need lots of money. I bought a remaster and it is way better. A lot of 180g reissues are a joke.
