MAOP 11 cabinet plans

I’m looking to build a speaker with the maop 11. I have a cabinet builder ready to build whatever cabinet I want. what I am looking for is the best overall sound. I’m not necessarily worried about bass output as I can add subs. Bookshelf or floor standard, either one is fine. so, if I have a box that can do reasonable bass output as well, that’s fantastic, but if I’m just looking for overall clarity/sound stage, not necessarily worried about low bass, what would you all recommend? If you have a recommendation, please also include a link to the box plan you recommend. I appreciate any help upfront. I am new to the DIY process.

Usual suspects are FHXL or Pensil.

Pluvia 11 (and probably A11ms) fit into very similar, if not the same, Pensil for Pluvia 11 = Pensil for A11ms, would be suitable for MAOP.

Scott has done many (King of Swing is for P11): http://wodendesign.com/Free.html

I have done the basic sims for it, but not done any MAOP specific boxes yet. But a Pluvia 11 CGR. https://frugal-phile.com/boxlib/P10free/CGR-dPlu-Ken11-0v82-plan-300716.pdf

Find something you like and we can check it.

So you’re recommending the pensil or the FHXL? Do you have plans for this cabinets with the maop 11?

Does “can add sub(s)” indicate you have some to play with, or an inclination to do so? If that’s the case, then even one of the smaller bookshelf / mini monitor designs might be worth considering. While I’ve repeatedly commented on my preference for floorstanders, there are compelling arguments for the combination of smaller mains and separate bass support.

Having built more than a few of Dave and Scott’s designs over a period of more than a decade my favorites for ease of build, placement flexibility and optimal (for my use case) balance of wideband performance and footprint would have to be the Pensil family. I’m now retired from active construction and have been running the same speakers in my 7.2 system for the last 5yrs or so - all Mark Audio drivers except for a pair of small subs.

I mean, I’m very seriously considering adding subs. i’m not necessarily looking for a full range speaker, I’m just looking for a speaker that has a wonderful sound to it. That it’s able to have a wide soundstage, something exceptionally good for things like jazz, classical, maybe some folk. The subs, subs are cheap. I can get two REL T5I for like 1300? Add Dirac room correction. I’m good to go.

Nice, I only ask as i use one of the fairly new NAD C658 streaming pre-amp. I haven't heard many people talk about it, but it has Dirac built in, and dual sub outs with a cut off for the main speakers, so makes light work of adding subs with XO and room correction/filtering etc. All digital though so no nice tubes in there.
