For reference, T/S max flat:
Vb = 20*292.513*0.28^3.3 = ~87.66 L/3.1 ft^3 + whatever the vent volume, driver takes up
Fb = 0.42*28*0.28^-0.96 = ~39.9 Hz
You can tune it lower, making it bigger overall since the vent gets so big that might as well morph into some form of TL.

Thanks GM....The box would be 16" deep......So 2 ports...what would they be in size.......thanks allot ....For reference, T/S max flat:

.Im drummer not a speakers designer ...when someone like you can run this in minutes.....
thanks again....I suppose I need to look at model I was thinking of.....which was a 15" ver. of a EV Sentry 500
with 12"
Think of changing to 3 way with the addition of some JBL 2405 Ultra-Highs I have. The 15" 2 way design
of the Sentry 500...vs. 12" woofer. Those ports on the EV 500's are 4" x 4.5" The EV 500s
are 24H x 27 W x 13D with the 12" Woofer................GM thanks for any input....please have template
cut out with ever variation of driver placement possible, in color 3D with in the hour ....lol............
will use a JBL Mid horn......thanks

Hmm, just now seen these updates and nearly 1 am here, so will be later on today or night earliest before I get back to you.
GM.......thanks I was just audio picking on you......appreciate you running the volume on the box.
I'm a little lost, i.e. while nothing wrong with my reference calc'd alignment, it's not necessarily the smallest since the room impacts overall performance; I mean in a corner it can be smaller and/or tuned lower depending on the needs of the app (desired overall performance), though if planning to use DSP and a ~40 Hz tuning is OK, then never mind. 😉
Also, the 12" references, cab dims. are confusing me, so are they the size and/or shape you're wanting?
Also, for the home, getting the horn up higher, up to seated ear height or even higher as I prefer (?) has become more common, so is a column/tower speaker (aka MLTL) preferable?
In short, need to 'spell out' what you're wanting, otherwise I'm just going to give vent dims for my reference alignment.

Well I have the Sentry 500's and wanted to do a 15" ver. but dont want to turn the 15" ver. box into being to large....if possible....but keep the design of the EV Sentry 500's....thus the size of the Sentry 500's....posted just for gen. info as to its size to a 15" version.....I did not know the EV 500 were only 13" deep.I'm a little lost, i.e. while nothing wrong with my reference calc'd alignment, it's not necessarily the smallest since the room impacts overall performance; I mean in a corner it can be smaller and/or tuned lower depending on the needs of the app (desired overall performance), though if planning to use DSP and a ~40 Hz tuning is OK, then never mind. 😉

There are about 28.3 liters in a cubic foot, which is 1728 cubic inches- 12x12=144x12=1728.
The Sentry 500 net volume after subtracting the volume of the woofer, horn and ports is about 3 cubic feet, around the same net volume as GM suggested for your Eminence 15" (87.66 liter/3.1 cubic feet).
Most JBL horn/driver combinations are going to require more than a 13" overall depth.
You could add the 2405's above the Sentry 500, and build an identical box for the Eminence 15" to go below it.

Thanks Art......On the mid JBL would try to get a something that would fit in depth....maybe extemd the box depth 14" but thatThere are about 28.3 liters in a cubic foot, which is 1728 cubic inches- 12x12=144x12=1728.

is short......on the mid......Unless I use a diff brand mid horn with mid JBL driver...I have old JBL drives....put away..and found some
Eminence HF drivers 260-105 FS 600hz Rep 1000-18K 34oz mag. 2" Kapton VC with 2" titanium diaph. their would not be a prob. with the Eminence 260 HF with the depth.....of cabinet.
.'Thanks again....Art
