What is the best cabinet design for Altec Flamenco drivers?

I have a pair of Altec Flamenco speakers where the cabinets (IMO) are not worth saving, but the drivers & xover seem to be in great shape (sound good). This brings up the question "What should I do with the drivers?" I could sell them. Or I could build a pair of speakers.

If I build a pair of speakers what is the design which will provide the best SQ for HiFi?

Depends on the needs of the app, i.e. personal preferences (sonically), the listening environment, etc., so custom designed in a BR column/tower (AKA MLTL) alignment; otherwise my default alignment is the pioneer's BR where Vb = (ideally measured) Vas/1.44, Fb = actual Fs even if they are different, then use either CD horn EQ to balance the woofer/horn output and/or some form of outboard EQ (DSP nowadays) to blend them to the environment.

All that said and while they don't 'move' me (not a 'low boy' fan + a bit too small acoustically for my sonic preferences), by far the most popular alignment around the world is the M19 cab based on FB postings, though loses much of its 'magic' if some form of its XO isn't used.

I have seen the Model 19 designs around for years. Popularity is good, as it indicates there is a something there that people find enjoyable.

However I am looking for a design which in a say, 15'x25'x9' room would sound the best. Cost is always an object and aesthetics needs to be considered, but to start with I think we can ignore aesthetics and let form follow function.

Again, it's the XO; slightly mod it for an 846, 848 and you can have it too. 😉 Which version, A or B and is ported an option?

Regardless, my room is 16 x 24 x 8, though opens to a larger area, but to the first approximation same-same.

Note that speakers, listening position (LP) should be at an odd harmonic, so if up against the sound wall is the 1st/fundamental, then which odd harmonic will the LP/ears be at? Otherwise where in the room where the speakers be.

Ditto room height Vs the vertical acoustical midpoint of the horn/woofer at an odd harmonic and how does this with ear height Vs odd harmonic, which ideally often requires a seat riser with today's cushy foam construction (very few DIYers consider any of this and manufacturers choose based on traditional furniture dims at best).

If already got a room layout/acoustics you like/whatever, then never mind. 😉

Seated ear height; normally folks put them at the horn centerline, though personally place the woofer there for more perceived impact at the XO point, there and tilt the horn, which if enclosed makes for more woodworking or tilt it in a bit more complex XO.

Unless really close to a wall, baffle step loss must either be acoustically done with a wider than normal baffle as the pioneers (typically 30-36") did or add till more complexity to the XO (BSC).
