My obvious objection to any experiments done in Uganda about the Coriolis force is that AFAIK, Uganda is not on the Equator, unless the World's axis has shifted recently! 😎
Disco-Pete, I say this most kindly, stick to what you know:
TBH, I found some plot-holes in the Movie. The book was better.

Really? A geographer you clearly aint. Better check again, or rather, just check before you launch accusations which btw, I did not do. I merely asked for clarification. My obvious objection to any experiments done in Uganda about the Coriolis force is that AFAIK, Uganda is not on the Equator, unless the World's axis has shifted recently! 😎

You are a "mathematician", no? I didn't think your vocation was this limited.
I do in fact stick to what I know, respectfully inquire bout what I don't. More than I can say for some responses over the past here.
thanks for your patronage btw.

Obvious to me because Coriolis effect has no worthwhile effect at small scale like a kitchen sink. How obvious?
It has an effect at large scale like on wind currents apart the equator between the Noth tropic circle and the South tropic circle.
Coriolis effect at totally different scale.
BTW: The equator does cross Uganda.
Uganda is located in southeast Africa between 1º S and 4º N latitude, and between 30º E and 35º E longitude

We need some humor here:
[Nigel plays the piano]
Marty DiBergi: It's pretty.
Nigel Tufnel: Yeah, I like it. I've been fooling around with it for a few months now. Very delicate.
Marty DiBergi: It's a bit of a departure from what you normally play.
Nigel Tufnel: Yeah, well, it's part of a trilogy, a musical trilogy that I'm doing in D... minor, which I always find is really the saddest of all keys, really, I don't know why. It makes people weep instantly to play [plays and sings]
Nigel Tufnel: It's a horn part.
Marty DiBergi: It's very pretty.
Nigel Tufnel: You know, just simple lines intertwining, you know, very much like — I'm really influenced by Mozart and Bach, and it's sort of in between those, really. It's like a Mach piece, really. It's sort of...
Marty DiBergi: What do you call this?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, this piece is called "Lick My Love Pump."
🙃
This thread is going down the toilet!
Toto!
Somehow, at our dinner table, during Sunday Dinner.. half way through the conversation someone will bring up some toilet humor.
Never fails.
Usually the signal to bring out dessert.
Hi all I am back for more punishment,if the universe is expanding and not static wouldnt the space vacuum increase?
I've always wondered what would happen if you drew the plunger of a syringe while plugging the other end in outer space. Would there be vacuum resistance?

The "vacuum of space" is a myth.
Space is filled with dark matter.
Dark Matter has inductance.Regardless, would there be resistance?
If a chicken lays an egg in outer space, is there inductance on it's way out?
The tachyon egg goes in... and decomposes to its original components (in our space-time). Being an imaginary egg, it has no resistance, only inductance. it also resonates at its fundamental frequency with some harmonics.
The Nelson Pass Tachyon Eggs resonates with a strong 2nd harmonic component.
Hmm... what is reactance without resistance? Do devices exist that have inductive reactance ( L ) but no resistive reactance ( R )? I though even inductors have some resistance.
Do chickens in tachyon space have feathers?
No less imaginary than dark matter.Do chickens in tachyon space have feathers?
I wonder how they make scrambled eggs...No less imaginary than dark matter.
Feeling greatly chagrined by my lack of Knowledge about the precise equatorial location of Uganda. Oh well. 😳
To me, the most interesting mathematical problem is the numerical Euler Zeta(2) Function. You know, 1 + 1/4 + 1/9 .... = Pi^2 /6.
Or alternated = Pi^2 /12.
It has a physical interpretation as an inverse square law thing.
I spent two years on that problem. Zeta(3) is tremendously difficult. Odd is probably the word. But have got a grasp of Zeta(1). Logarithms.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Particular_values_of_the_Riemann_zeta_function
The more analytic Riemann Zeta function reveals aspects of Quantum Theory, since N + 1/2 is always Quantum spin stuff.
I'll stop there. 😎

The expansion of the universe is fundamentally about how we measure dimensions in space.
Nothing increases apart from the distances between points in the universe on the largest measurable scales.
The expansion of space is characterised by a cosmic scale factor which increases with time.
If we set that scale factor to unity (1) today, then an expanding universe means that in the past the scale factor was smaller, and in the future it will be larger.
The cosmic scale factor is a key factor of the Friedmann equations which are a set of mathematical equations which govern the expansion of space.

if 3 (or more) solid items all moves away from each other, the space that these three things have between them, will be larger as time passes. The volume increases with time. An other word for volume increase is expansion.
QED.

If 3 (or more) solid items all moves away from each other...
However, objects in an expanding universe do not move away from each other, it's just that the distances between them get bigger.
It is the metric defining distance that is changing rather than objects moving in space.
It is as if without objects themselves moving, space is somehow "growing" in between them.
I know it's hard to grasp, but that's what the math says!
