Jumping capacitors (parallel)

Ok. So shouldn’t that show up in a freq response measurement?

or is it hidden somewhere else ?

isn’t that result the freq response ?

isn’t the crossover there to blend all the drivers together in a seamless manner?
without having a ‘ wonky’ impedance?

legit questions btw

Most speakers have a wonky impedance anyway.

If you play a 100Hz tone, and goose up the 5kHz eq lever,
that won't make much of a difference.

Even if the LC filter has a peak (and it may not), that doesn't mean that
enough energy is coming out of the woofer at that peak to produce much sound.
Add a +6dB filter to -30dB woofer, and the result is still -24dB down.

Yeah I get it no worries
remember I am also experimenting here and wanted too see if I could hear a diffence between an electrolytic and a poly.

I put a Solen cap in there since Proac uses those as well. And it only cost me $10.
trust me I’ve spent $10 in much much dumber places.

@ tone?

I was only pointing out that ESR in a low pass filter may be no bad thing.

Folks should consider that before coughing up for a large value film capacitor.

oh and the ALCAP caps claim low ESR as a spec they advertise.
i don’t know if the designer would chose the ALCAP with very low ESR to factor in ESR for damping.
makes no sense to me.
i would imagine that if that were the case the designer would use a cap with a high ESR for that effect.

but I could be wrong

You do not own this thread.

As I've told you before, this is an open forum.

It is not all about you!

no it’s all about me.
lol

dude relax. I’m just playing around.

what’s with the scolding , firm parent thing?
did you have Small children and got used to talking to people that way?

it’s a speaker not a bomb. Nothing will go terribly wrong with my exploring values etc.

sorry but every post of yours towards me, has this certain scolding , ‘ don’t touch that!’ quality to it.

as Allen noted your example was quite dramatic. I have no idea why is the next question.

what do you think I will do that is so bad?
that’s a legit question.
Will I do something so wrong and so horrible that my speakers will be rendered useless?
or that I need to be wrapped in the knuckles like my Russian piano teacher used to do to me when I was 12?

how do you suppose I learn?
dumb , super dumb questions come out of students and people just learning.
I had the same thing from my students when I was teaching them guitar.

my kind sir.

why on earth are you always angry at me?

lol

geezus.

just bothered by my presence.
is it my username?
i know it’s dumb, but is that it?

there’s that Tone guy again. I’m gonna go and post In his threads cause I hate them so much !

lol

You've obviously missed how helpful I've been (or have tried to be) in your earlier threads.

My frustration arises from the fact that you tend not to accept advice, but seem more interested in creating a talking shop.

However, you have obviously attracted lots of interest in the process, so carry on at your convenience! 😍

My man. I reallly have ever seen advice from you but comments and criticism mostly

I asked about jumpers in this case and instead of saying. Yeah they won’t change sonically , or , jsut try and find a cap with the same ESR. You go on with overeggagerated tech talk.

ive taken Allen’s advice. I’ve taken Markks advice and a few others.
yeah of course I’m not going to take everyones advice and opinions. That’s natural.

don’t take it personally. I don’t even know you. Maybe we would be great friends if we met in person.
its not like I am singling you out and saying oh it’s him again I’m not going to take his advice.
i don’t know who is behind their keyboard here. Could be some kid thats 15 and just learned a few canned technical terms. Maybe it’s a super experienced designer who wants to remain anonymous. I don’t know.
so I take the advice or recommendations I think are good.
i work off of instinct and experience in communication. It’s all I have for something i am not technically proficient at.
when I see someone who is kind and patient and doesn’t take things personally, that leads me to believe he is around 40-50+ and knows his stuff. And I’m actually willing to pay them to teach me. I did the same with Matthew Poes to teach me REW for his time.

when I see people harsh or critical it sounds to me like something a much younger person would do. I did the same when I was younger.

ok. It’s starting to sound like we are married or something. Lol

and you might be under 30! Lol

cheers
