Speaker Camp 2022 - Northern California

We are looking forward to amp camp. This is traveling season.

What tools are needed?
Looks like the SLOB's will travel better with the drivers securely packed in a box unassembled?

Thoughts?

Thanks DT
The woofers are actually very well protected when they are installed. The FR drivers would be better protected safely packed in a box or boxes. I'm not sure if Nelson is using bulk packaging to transport them to the event. In any event the Moth drivers can't be replaced, so taking care is recommended. Several moving blankets or equivalent are also recommended to protect the beautiful cherry wood finish of the baffles.

Looking forward to seeing the group on Saturday. I'm going to drive down from the Seattle area and will be staying at a motel in Santa Rosa on Friday night. (no camping) What time are folks planning to get together Saturday morning?

I have some goodies to bring with me. Four pairs of modified ACA PCBs to build the 'Premium' version with provision for R16 and on-board power filtration. These were laid out by one of the diyAudio members who likes to tinker with PCB layout. They happen to include provision for installing LT1084 regulators, which I do not recommend. The regulators actually constrict the sound, so I will be supplying the PCBs with wire bypass to eliminate the regulation. I recommend linear supplies with about 28V to 30V rail voltage and IRFP140s or FQH44N10 at the output devices if you can find some.

Camp starts at 10am, but the build is easy and we're a casual bunch so no worries about punctuality. We have plenty of time to build, listen, and chat 😁

I will have some "pre-production" ACA Redux kits available for the overachievers who want to keep building, or for those who find themselves in need of a couple more amp channels to drive the SLOBs.

See you all soon!

Capacitors C6 and C8 prevent any DC current from flowing, so why not return those "legs" to ground? No matter how low is the noise level on VREF, the noise on ground is even less.
