Can you do DIY, if so you can buy a MC phono amp kit from member Sachu888 for the HypnoToad designed AD797 P/amp from the A/K site. Then just use the 1st stage of the phono amp. However the complete phono amp will easier S/Q wise with any P/amp up to $3000

I've got a couple doing exactly why you say - gathering dust. Neither is currently cased but both work well. One is a Big Bottle valve stage, the original implementation. The other is a mini-me sub-miniature valve stage from a board sold hereabouts a few years ago. Both sound excellent in my opinion.
