That sounds very interesting. Thanks again.Drives them with ease. Hold on for Zen Mods modified AJ boards to turn up in the store. Easier to assemble and sound great.

Here is wher ewe come into the compromise called "budget”. Adding woofers (2 minimum) cost smore but can bring significant advances over the single driver by itself. Not only can you have bass as low as you $$$ and box volume limits allow relieving the FR of the heavy lift of doing bass improves their midTop potential.I was thinking Super Pensil, but the room is just 15 m2 (161 feet2) and maybe smaller enclosures and a well placed subwoofer would be a better choice.
So my advice is build the FR box, listen for awhile and then decide if you want and can afford more.

A12.2p is the name of the A12p if you consider that it is a second generation A12. So intentional, but it does date the drawing. No, it's a typo; there's no 12.2P, just the 12P.

Just have to share how impressed I am with these drivers. So natural, great extension, easy to drive, easy to integrate. Image like crazy, phase is perfect. Image is literally everywhere on phasemanipulated recordings. On others right where it should be.
an this on even very low volume levels.
unbeatable @ the price point, imo.
Also, a fair warning iaw the manual; they are dead honest. Take care of the front end 🙂

Thats why I ordered these drivers. If I just get the enclosures right, maybe I can finally hear what's actually going on in the front end.Just have to share how impressed I am with these drivers. Thanks to all of you for being so helpful and cheerful. Even to us who newly discovered this great community. Hat off!
I received my drivers two days ago, now they are in the break-in process with about 15 hours lounge/ambient/smooth jazz at low volumes and I am very impressed too (I know, you wrote it some time ago).Just have to share how impressed I am with these drivers. Somebody wrote a question some years ago but there was no answer, so I try it again: I will use the driver in an OB, without the bass range - what about the break-in? Or should I break it in as a full range without xo? An answer would be much appreciated.
Istvan,
My understanding is that the break-in should be done without XO - but excursion should be kept within 2mm.
What amp are you using with the Alpair 12P?

I’d wait for Planet10’s answer, but my understanding is that it is wise to give them a couple of hundred hours full range, until you can pump up the volume a bit. The spider will significantly loosen up during those hours, and get better working conditione to produce the whole frequency range more accurately.I received my drivers two days ago, now they are in the break-in process with about 15 hours lounge/ambient/smooth jazz at low volumes and I am very impressed too (I know, you wrote it some time ago).

Okay, now it's running in an OB, without xo, at low volume.
And it seems to be a great little speaker, after 20 hours.
I really look forward to using it in real life.

Just forgot to ask, sorry: I made a quick level measurement, it's about 40 dB - can I increase it now, after 20 hours, or should I wait for the first 100?
Many thanks in advance!

40 db is very low. Ensure a bit of cone movement, and just don’t play rapJust forgot to ask, sorry: I made a quick level measurement, it's about 40 dB - can I increase it now, after 20 hours, or should I wait for the first 100?

+/- 70dB with no bass (HPF at 100hz 4th order) is what i use to break them in, at least the first 50h. I make the hpf in software (JRiver, my music player software) and play classical music mostly during break in.

Thanks Andy, I crancked the volume up, about 60 dB now, with some cone movement, up to 1 mm.40 db is very low. Ensure a bit of cone movement, and just don’t play rap![]()
Hi again,
now it's broken in and it replaced the new 8" SB fullrange in my just finished OB.
And it's so great😀
