Gale GS401 crossovers

I have a pair of Gale 401’s that need the xovers to be refurbished.
Had one tweeter repaired now to the xover dilemma (This could have possibly been the cause of the tweeter failure)
Seeking advice on replacing potentiometers with fixed resistors or a suitable replacement pots. (would need Circuit diag with values etc)
I would appreciate any assistance.
Regards.

Just measure from the pot wiper to each end (at your preferred setting) and buy 5W or 10W resistors of those values.
Preferably non-inductive types. You'll need a high quality DVM to accurately measure low ohms.

Don't feel too bad about it, dave.

Common misconceptions about the Gale 401.

I happen to have listened to it. Excellent slam and bass.

But significant confusion about a speaker of low impedance. Hence we called it an Amp-Killer .🙄

I'll have a go here.

There are several ways to wire a three terminal potentiometer. The tweeter appears to be wired as a variable resistor 0-5R. You will replace it with a simple, say 3.3R 5W wirewound.

The mid looks like it is more pure 4R potentiometer. Likely you replace the two legs with two 2R 5W resistors, but measurement and adjustment will be best.

The mid pot readings will be affected and taken lower by the other parts of the circuit unless you disconnect it somewhere.

Make some notes of the three readings from the three terminals. Should fall into place.

You might be able to buy replacement pots. Linear rather than logarithmic I'd guess. Maybe 20W.
