Free Quad ESL 63 Parts

I have scrapped 4 Quad ESL63s, I have used the panels but I have everything else left, so transformers, delay lines, or the complete base units. These are free to anyone interested, I am happy to ship them if you cover the postage costs

If they are still available, I'd love to buy the plastic tops and bottoms of the panel assemblies. UPS has a nice habit of breaking them, and I see a lot of speakers with cracked parts. Also I'd pay for the plastic bases either with or without contents.

Thanks,
Sheldon

Hi Stuart,

Glasgow is far away from Perth in Australia, but I am interested in two ESL63 bases with electronics & transformes excluding plastic bottom plate.
I know that Sheldon is the first in que (and much closer), but you mentioned 4 speakers so there maybe a chance for me if the shipping is not outrageous 😁.

Regards,
Zvon

Shipping is the problem 2 bases complete would be about £140 or without the transformers about £85. I have disposed of the first batch but have more to do, I have an other pair to collect next week. If you dont need the bottom cases it would be slightly cheaper as the box is smaller. Let me know what you think

Hi Stuart,

Yes, the shipping seems high, however, the value & weight of the parts in the bases in my opinion justify the shipping cost.
I will send you a PM regarding shipping & ETF.

Also thanks to Sheldon for his willingness to share.

Zvon

For me, the plastics have the highest value. From buying up bases over the years, I have plenty of delay lines, power supplies clamp boards and input transformers. Thanks to UPS and FedEx de-boning shipments, I am always fixing broken pieces from previous shipping fun.

Remember, the original ESL-63 boxes are NOT enough to prevent UPS from damaging your speakers in shipment. They were decades ago, but not anymore.

Sheldon

Hi Stuart, Do you have a Quad 989 AC transformer that I can buy from you?

Remove the transformers from the plastic base when shipping. I have seen the plastic base been broken by the transformers.
And I want to add that not only UPS has cut costs and in all possible ways.
In sweden we thougt that "competition" was the solution to our postal service.
The result was that other actors was invited to the "market" and up to 4 different actors went by our mailbox every day! Instead of previous one.
So all four companies tried to earn money from 1/4 of the shared deliveries each.

I´m not against market... and I do not involve politics.
Just look at the issue from an engineering mathematical perspective.
And now we have the result.
Mail is coming every 2nd day.
The stamps has gone up with 1000% roughly.
Letters dissapear, and packages is broken...
Sorry for the non topic... it just feels nice to share feeling within the family..
