Classic Aleph Amplifier for Modern UMS Chassis - Group Buy

I spot checked the tracking info and it appears a few people will get their kits today. More will arrive Saturday, then the rest in the USA should arrive next week. All of you greedy boyz outside the USA, you need to be patient!

Just arrived. I will admit to checking the post box 4-5 times today. Stickers are a nice touch. Thanks again Randy!

Santa was very late this year, but he finally arrived! Thanks Randy, the boards look great, and the stickers really are a very nice touch.

Unfortunately they're going to have to take a back seat for a bit. My wife seems to think that a water leak from the bath into the living room below takes precedence. Could always shower in the living room! Why do these things always happen at a weekend.

Thanks again,
Gary

“Smoke on the water”

A whole lot of purple showed up today! Thanks Randy for adding me in last minute. Boards look great, Fets are already tucked away in a safe, static free location. Time to start stuffing PS boards while listening to Deep Purple.

Hi Randy, just received my pcb's and am starting on the easy V8 CRCRC PSU board. The documentation shows LED D1 connected through R11 to the positive output, but the actual pcb also has LED D2 through R12 (which are not shown on the schematic or BOM in your build guide) - where is this LED connected too? Is it the negative output voltage or the positive input voltage?

Cheers,

Gary..

Gary - great catch! I put updated build docs in post #1 of a new "Builder's Thread"
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...or-modern-ums-chassis-builders-thread.382316/
If you catch anything else let me know and I can update the build doc.

To directly answer your question, both LED's are on the positive rail. The idea was you could use one of the LED's closest to the front panel to run an LED up there. Leave the other one open, or put another LED on-board. One LED is at the input side of the board, the other is at the output.

Update: more shipments went out today.

There are a few more boards in my box, but most are spoken for. A couple are set aside for a few final people on the original group buy. Plus the ones I'll be building for myself.

So now I'm down to one pair of Aleph main PCB's that are not spoken for. I'm holding those back until all shipments in transit arrive safely. Or in case I mispacked a shipment. Assuming all outbound shipments arrive as expected, I'll offer the final pair up if anyone is interested.

I have additional expansion boards. So if anyone is tempted to turn your Aleph 30 project into a 60, let me know.

See y'all over on the Builder's Thread.

Interested in Group Buy Round #2? Please send me a message and start a new list on this thread. It will be fun to get another wave of Classic Alephs out into the wild.
