Hello all,
I am looking for the best class D in high frequencies from 1Khz to 20Khz from a 24V supply.
Low THD and 25W (8R) on a single channel is all I need.
I have tried old Tripath, TAS and TPA series from TI. All sounded OK, but I have not been blown away. The implementations I have used are quite basic I think.
Can anyone make any suggestions? I want to keep it off the shelf as much as possible but I am happy to make small modifications if it is very beneficial. Cost I am looking for less than 60USD if possible - so no Hypex unfortunately.
Many thanks to all in advance for your thoughts.

The distortion due to the loudspeakers themselves is more dominant than that of the electronics, which is probably why you weren't blown away. If that's not the case then I think you need to try and recollect the last time you were, in fact, blown away and use that setup (and listening conditions) as a reference.
When I first tried out TDA8932 I found the higher frequencies rather harsh. Then I discovered the reason for this was the application in the DS didn't provide a clean enough supply for the analog signal stages. When I corrected this omission by giving the signal stages a regulated supply, the higher frequencies became very clean. I've not made a measurement of the THD though. Here's my design for a 25W/8R classD amp with a regulated signal supply separate from a regulated output stage supply : https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/transformer-input-tda8932-mono-amp.357678/
Almost all modern amps are flat within a fraction of a dB to 20K. You are either going to get low end junk, or go used for $60.Hello all,

Dominant for sure, but different and I can't explain why. I can hear differences in equipment measuring .0X something, or even .000x, knowing full well my speakers are well over .5% at that level. Why? Discussion on ASR is impossible. The distortion due to the loudspeakers themselves is more dominant than that of the electronics, which is probably why you weren't blown away. If your message is that the best dollar spent is always for speakers, I would agree fully. But Little boxes with lights on them are sexier. 🙂 A well executed Tripath is actually very good and until recently not equaled in the low end class D. The Topping PA5 has changed that equation, but not for $60
Possibly, but I don't know either. And, if the OP has extremely high standards, then the 60$ limit is just going to filter out all options .....Dominant for sure, but different and I can't explain why.
