Please post url and search terms.Intra-thread searching does not seem to work with me. I chose "this thread" and get no results even for words I see on the same page.
Unwanted and un-asked-for experiment Google decided to run without our permission. Gave us quite a scare, actually!I noticed that ads are now popping up on the top banner - as a financial supporter I thought ads were supposed to be off? Has this policy changed?
Thanks for sticking your chin out into the storm, Jason. And gerardv, don't mind us--we engineer Everything--it's who we are--we'll grow on ya 🙂
All part of the service, and really nothing I wasn't expecting with our somewhat premature "just get it over the line" launch. We could have waited another month, or two, or three. Instead we've made progress and the improvements we make can be community driven more than would have been otherwise anyway.
New issue created here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...eviously-subscribed-to-watched-thread.380514/I think the new outfit isn't as cearly laid-out as the old one when I click diyAudio/Home. And I sorely miss the e-mail notifications for new posting in threads that I'd posted in previously. Otherwise the new site is ok.
Best regards!
New issue created here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/similar-threads-missing.380515/Looking good, but miss the "similar threads" on the bottom of page...
Agree. New issue created here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/page-selector-on-mobile-missing-at-top-of-page.380516/I just tried the new forum on a smartphone. It works well. My only problem is with the page numbers. If I want to go to a specific page, or just simply go to the prev/next, I have to fully scroll down. Even if I don't want to read the actual page from top to bottom. It would be useful to have the page selector on the top AND on the bottom, just like it is on the desktop mode.
Also the first and last page does not have the Go to page selector (obviously it does make sense at 4 or more pages).
Hi Mark! 🙂It was really annoying to look at the list of New Posts and not see the name of the Forum in which a message was placed. There are TONS of threads with non-specific titles like "Preamp Question", so we check to see whether it was posted in the Tubes/Valves Forum or the Solid State Forum or the Introductions Forum, to decide whether it's possibly something worth pursuing further.
THANK YOU for repairing this deficiency! The name of the Forum is now displayed under every post, and I am very grateful for it.
Are you referring to the front page? Or when viewing a thread? On the front page it was to the right of the thread title. Now it's underneath. Whatever we have now will be massaged, but for sure the category will stay.
I understand and agree. This colored squared only complicate the work of the eye.
Please post any broken links here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/broken-links.380497/One - for many of us - big issue and XRK wrote it already: the broken links. There is a huge amount of information in this links (circuit diagrams, drawings, cabinet plans, measurements and many more), and they were available only via this links, the images were embedded in the threads, so no external links. It would be a great loss, if these links cannot be reactivated.
Ah yes, the secret donors-only area. Noted, will be restored...1. I miss the donors area.
Congrats Jason and the Team.
After logging in and looking around better I find most of what I am looking for.
Still a little annoying, as mainly a mobile user (I guess you thought otherwise?) That the forum will not take native themes, like most other webpages

I think it's cool and gives a good feeling of the site being live.
There I am reading a post on the home page and BAM! it moves ,up? down? sideways? I know not where and you think that's a 'good feeling' ?? One Christ ! No Kangaroos!!
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot ?? now there is no way to quote or multi-quote ?? See above !!

That is what I thought, because when I clicked on the "X" to get rid of the ad as it was blocking my view, Google asked my the reason why I did not like the ad. They did not have a seelction checkbox for "Go eat my shorts" as Bart Simpson would say.
Android devices automatically convert light themes to dark, when selected in settings for the device.Native theme?
Having a separate theme on the DIYa site defeats the internal conversion from light to dark themes.
I suppose the themes are actually there for PC users, as mobile users will have actually lost that functionality (auto themes conversion)
This auto theme conversion is very useful and I feel important here (removes issues with text colours and ledgibility that have been mentioned)
Plus it removed the human imput that may decide text should be sky blue pink with purple dots, which then renders a particular theme unusable for some/many
EDIT: Looking deeper into it Google also bypasses the auto theme conversion.
So my point is moot 😆
Sorry and carry on!

can we have an option to enable forums in left sidebar?
The old forum was able to show animation from GIFs in the avatars, now it is no longer working.

On desktop, if you select text it becomes a quote. If you reply to a post it becomes a quote. Those quotes stick between page views, so you can reply to stuff on page 1, then move to page 500, and your edit box text and the quotes will all still be there. It's different, but works well (on desktop).Whiskey Tango Foxtrot ?? now there is no way to quote or multi-quote ?? See above !!
I am not happy with the way it works on mobile, that has some work to be done.
I haven't heard of this android feature, but we'll focus on bigger standards in general. An auto theme that switches from light to dark is on the todo list, but that won't be android specific, it will (hopefully) work across mobile, desktop, everything.Android devices automatically convert light themes to dark, when selected in settings for the device.

Probably not. I think the new location in the header is pretty sweet, and it's on every page now not just the front page. I suspect before you know it your muscle memory will be taking you to where you want to go, from any page of the site, without you even thinking about it.can we have an option to enable forums in left sidebar?
Hmm. Not sure if this is a feature or a bug.The old forum was able to show animation from GIFs in the avatars, now it is no longer working.
Can you give me one example of an animated gif avatar that wasn't annoying to look at?
@Jason this has been fixed yesterday so I now wish to be told if my fix didn’t stick. Or if it did. 🤣 or 🙏🏼 Works okay for me.I don't know if this has been reported yet. In the private conversation between members; when you get a response from another member there is a prompt available for a thank you in the bottom right of the screen. When clicked it goes to the crying laughing imoji. It could be construed as less than polite.
I just hope that no russian nuke will automatically go off due to the new platform's themes or imoji...
It will get some getting used to, but I think in general I am happy. I am missing the "Mark all forums read" button. I am almost sure I saw it somewhere... In the old forum, I used it a lot from the Quick Links menu which was accessible at any page IIRC. I saw this mentioned in some older posts in this thread. I still fight to find that button. For individual forums, I could find it quite easily.
It seems like a semi-transparent layer that holds the info. Also, pics now are arranged in alphabetical order, no matter the sequence of upload. This happened to old threads too so now text pointing to first or second pic is... pointless.Don't know if mentioned already, but can the attached pictures thumbnails made to be more in focus?
Did anyone mentioned the little bell? It woks great notifying for quoting too!
Thanks Jason 🙂It's here:

Implementing and documenting keyboard shortcuts in the editor is a great idea.

Hi Jason,Please post any broken links here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/broken-links.380497/
it is almost impossible to post every broken link, only in this one post https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/10f-8424-rs225-8-fast-waw-ref-monitor.273524/post-4306110 there are 43 of them, and the thread has 170+ pages, with many many links.
I'm very happy with it, I have been saying "DIYaudio should upgrade the 1990 platform" for years, and now it has been done!
My favourite feat is that images can be uploaded immediately, without going to photobucket and copying the link.

Yes, imaging handling is sooooo much better here. A very welcome improvement.images can be uploaded immediately,
The upgrade to the new software was impressive. I'm a retired IT worker and pulling off a big transition like this is HARD. The fact the board came back on line pretty near completely intact shows how much time and effort the team put into the project. I'm impressed.
Sure, there are some things that are different enough to annoy. Some will be fixed/updated in the next few weeks and others I'll just get used to. Change is often painful.
Still, your folks did an outstanding job.
I've read quite a bit of this thread but it's gotten past me in the past few days. Pardon me if this has been discussed but it's a good thing.
The old board was setup to send out an email when one of your watched threads had a new message. It was only supposed to do that once with the understanding there may be other new messages since the email was sent. Unfortunately quite often there would be an email for every new message in a thread. Or not. There wasn't any rhyme or reason to it but sometimes there would be an avalanche of emails from the same thread. I never mentioned it as you were going to install new software.
That odd behavior seems to be gone with the new software. So that's a very big positive for the upgrade.
Thanks for keeping this place going!
Barry

Maybe because the old attachments previews had grown bigger, but new ones from now on will be natively shaped and will look cleaner as thumbnails? We will see.It seems like a semi-transparent layer that holds the info. Also, pics now are arranged in alphabetical order, no matter the sequence of upload.
