Hey Guys,

Just wanted to thank you for the hard work on the migration! Still exploring but looks good.

THANK GOD for the classic view! I logged in and was confronted with one of the other views and my heart sank... LOL!

Anyway, nice job!

Best,

Steve

Thanks to all who replied to my post. I understand there are lots of suggestions but few more things to see if they are worth... (Of course I am ok with things as they are)
1) In mobile browsing earlier (Old version) I could use back touch button to go to sub forum from where I came to particular thread. In modern version I have to again go to forum menu on top than sub forum than again particular thread etc. Earlier was convenient for browsing a particular section. (For example "Solid State")
2) Not at all have biased views but there are some colors assosiated with things/stuff. for ex. baby pink, Baby blue. Even though when one logs in one can change the theme to classic. But when not logged in the violet scheme does not represent the hobby. Earlier (Blue I think) was proper in representing technical side of hobby. Violet is not the color usually associated with technical stuff.
3) In earlier version if one has to link to a 'particular post number' the click on that particular no gave us link which we wanted to get attention to or share. for ex. following...
https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...hopefully-differnt.365033/page-3#post-6866669
but it seems the old links (to a particular post ) are not working. No problem if it is too much trouble. New links system is perfectly working.
4) Though "Like' Buttons at first seems pretentious; two things it does are the respondant acknowledges the reply with out posting "I have read your reply..thanks" post which simplfies/declutters things. And other thing is If some expert has posted good technical information it immediatly gets noticed. BUT I am also happy with diyAudio not having it, if it makes the forum unique if compared to other forums.
I have learnt a lot in my capacity about electronics in the forum. Thanks again for the effort.

It might have been said already but... is there really a need to have this "new thread" feature at the top of the forums ? There is already a big "post thread" button and it would free up some vertical space.
I agree, actually I asked for that to be removed a while ago. I'll add that to the todo list as it must have got lost along the way.
It looks like the New Public font is 7.6% bigger than the private beta forum. 14 pixels high versus 13 pixels high.
Weird, noted. I'll be working on getting the classic theme as close to the original as possible over the next few weeks as a personal passion project. There are a few people saying that a member's custom font size choice does not take effect, not sure if that's related.
Even my birthday in my profile shows minutes. I didn't even know I was born at 12:08pm..... How did you guys found out??
Behind the scenes over the last few months many a discussion was had over trying to wrangle XF's dates into more human friendly formats. We did make some progress, but will continue the mission...
I have been searching around for the " Enhanced print View" that was on the old forum. I use this quite a bit to save threads in a word document. Is it in the new layout?
Yes! Please see my reply here, starting with the words "Yes, that functionality was developed".

I don't understand this, can you make a video or a series of steps. My back button works fine for going back to a thread list.

The previous color was "lavender". I recall several rants about that not being the right color 🙂 YMMV. This all said, the light theme will be tweaked as time goes on and your feedback is appreciated and heard.

This bug has been logged. Thanks.

Is this what you are after:

can I disable my avatar? I am neither interested in an image nor colored squares with a huge letter in it. that would be great. a nickname is enough.
Can I disable ALL avatars?
Maybe it would be better readable (takes up less space the post, so more posts visible in the page).

BTW (IMHO) the indication of nationality in the posts is more important, than negligible visual elements, than avatar.

This colored squared only complicate the work of the eye. I think too that pictorial representation is not always a good thing, i.e. in forums where people don't mind.

I join the above request to disable all avatars besides the ones users decided to upload their own content!

A like button—or, better, a like and a „useful answer“ button would be useful.

maybe a subthread-grouping (like folders/subfolders) could also help keeping long threads tidy?

overall impression is very good! Awesome work from our friends!!!

Hi,
first of all, many thanks for your effort, the new forum looks great, even if it will need some acclimatization.

One - for many of us - big issue and XRK wrote it already: the broken links. There is a huge amount of information in this links (circuit diagrams, drawings, cabinet plans, measurements and many more), and they were available only via this links, the images were embedded in the threads, so no external links. It would be a great loss, if these links cannot be reactivated.
