Its a 5volt LM4040 shunt voltage reference. Looks like the National Semi Logo at the top left.

I think indigo was offering the link as a functional reference, so that you would easily get to a specification sheet. There is another part number, the Texas Instrument LM4040N, which is available in three different 'packages', as shown here.
The particular package that you posted looks like it might be a TO-92 type package. In the link that indigo provided, the device is listed (specification, p. 4) in two different surface-mount configurations: SOT-23 and SC-70.
I use https://www.ocotpart.com to search for parts. It can be a great help when searching for parts using the many dimensions that are available.
Many thanksOkay, more research, its this TI part - LM4040-N. Its a 0.5% tolerance, 100ppm TO-92 shunt 5.0volt reference.
The actual part number is LM4040CIZ-5.0/NOPB (this is the TO-92 package). Page 48 of the datasheet.
You can order from Digikey or Mouser.
Many thanks
the stylish "N" logo is the National Semiconductor, bought and borg-assimilated by Texas Instruments.
In electronic components, you need to be a historian to orient yourself in components, so many freaking changes in 20 years!
