Tube ports conversion to slots and expanding chamber/slot

I'm planning to build 6 of the bandpass sub design from 18 Sound that relies on ports:

But THIS looks much smarter. Same 6th order bandpass, no?

Is this a good idea?

So, I can convert the 4 tube ports to either 2 regular slots of same x-section or 2 expanding slots of the above design (this greatly simplifies the build and adds rigidity to the box):

How do I convert the original tube ports to narrowing chamber/expanding slots? The angled slot combo looks like an elegant solution with less cuts to be made and that's important.

What do you guys think on the three options and how to model the box in the 2nd photo?

thanks!

You're welcome!

Indeed! I only made it through the 200? 500? page manual and said to heck with it as there were no 'dummy'/whatever tutorial AFAIK, but one of the pros that used it [the late DJK?] showed later on that once a relatively few basic 'building blocks' were created it was mostly a matter of copy/pasting/stringing along as many as was required to create whatever you wanted, but by then I was using various other programs to create whatever basic alignment I wanted.

Regardless, looking forward to what you come up with.

GM,

Kravchanko Audio recommended that I check with you whether this is something you can assist with. I built the original 6th order bandpass subwoofer per plans (as in the 1st post here) and it has serious turbulance issues. Rather than play with ports I want to try and re-do this sub, keeping it's original tunings but using a better box. My thoughts are using flared slot ports, in place of the vents (as the 2nd design mentioned here). The slots are a more elgant solution, also being structural, the way I see it. However, I need assistance with converting to tapered slots. I tried using Hornresp and Compound Horn. But this model is way off. Also, will need to convert the theoretical Hornresp model to a drawing with dimentions. So I need help. I can pay a flat fee that we agree on, if you're into this "conversion" project.

Thanks, pm me if possible.

Sorry, I have zero interest in doing any more design work beyond what I've posted over the years and/or given folks clues to find their way like some have done to advance various TL/horn alignments, so with yours, think vent designs based on 1/8 WL parabolic with a mean = to whatever size vent/length is required for an acceptable vent mach same as the pioneers did at least back to the '40s. 😉

I've yet to learn the compound horn, multiple entry or other advanced alignments now available beyond DL/installing other's designs to view, so no clue if it can be properly simmed in HR other than as a proper TH.

Oh bummer, but I understand your position. Thank you for taking the time to explain. Honestly, the 18 Sound driver outclasses the recommended enclosure by a wide margin. So the Final subwoofer will be exceptional as long as the enclosure is improved upon. I will work on that in any way possible. Will need some help thought… if anyone can help, please chime in and PM me.
Thanks.
