please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place - I'm new.
I'm attempting to make a strobing slides projector. Basically I've taken the projector apart and replaced the lamp with a strobe light. But what I'm seeing is only an image of the actual light tube (and the back reflector) enlarged.
Is this a focal issue? I.e. do I need to adjust the placement of the lenses? Or is it somehow possible that the light is *too* strong?
I'm a bit confused so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is a front view of the projector, with the top off.

Here you'll see how I removed the reflector and fitted the strobe. The original halogen lamp was sitting inside that metallic housing between the reflector and the first lens. So the strobe is set about 4 cm further back than the original light.

This is a screenshot of a video showing you how the strobe light/reflector is the image projected. (It was much sharper in real life.) When I inserted a slide the image went darker but I couldn't make out the contours of anything on the slide.

You need to put the strobe at the same point the original bulb was for the optics to work. The reflector is an integral part of that. unform illumination may always be an issue even then.
I guess I'll have to pull that metal housing apart somehow, then ...

Projectors typically need a very compact, bright, round, light source, strobe tubes are U-shaped and not compact. You may well be not smack on the focal point of the condenser lens too, making it worse.Hi there,

You could try the approach used in some modern headlamps - aim a blue laser diode at a small fluorescent blob. This gives a light source as compact as the blob, yet which can be PWM controlled. Trouble is finding the powerful laser diodes needed (these luxury headlamps are $1000's I believe!)

And yes, why is the anything to do with audio? 🙂
Visual-sensitive epilectics worst nightmare? You get to risk an attack as well as having to see some friends holiday pictures against your will!
