What would you do if you lived forever?

I'm just saying that technology will be able to fix it. Obviously, if humanity as a whole is too f***ing stupid to act or even denies there is a problem, it won't get fixed and we'll all be toast in due time.

And I have to admit that my trust in humanity is not as great as in technology.

I don't think technology can solve anything if those who use it (the great powers) are governments that only think about themselves.
Geopolitics is called.

Governments do pay attention to noisy minority groups when the message threatens their self-image. So, more big floods in China and EU, more heat and fires in North America etc. will eventually create pressure to make use of new technology - of course it will be too little too late but it will eventually happen more and more. Unfortunately it will require ever more people to be threatened with loss of life, and for the threat to be clearly attributable to the right problem without too much scope for misinformation, to provide the impetus for action.

Lately, I've been noticing this obsession / fad among some people on how bad human life has gotten on this planet. Those people need a reminder that we have deodorant and air conditioning which weren't available until fairly recently in human history. Imagine the living condition prior to that... :yuck:

No, the issue is not how bad they (humans) have got, the issue is how they have utterly FAILED to improved and thus, combined with massive population growth and huge growth in an ability to impact the world, the results are getting ever worse.

There is a sort of automagic process; the wealthier people become, the lower the birthrate will become. Lots of developed nations would have negative population growth if it wasn't for (illegal) immigration.
China is now so developed that they no longer need the mandatory max 1 kid per couple law, and now have to resort to offering money to get people to make an extra child.

What technology? Imminent catastrophe is upon us. What new technology is not being implemented? What is the misinformation? As long as the system is functioning there will be no change. I will come home after work and turn on the news and stay informed. As long as there's product on the shelves I will have all the impetus needed to carry on.

OTOH, there's the possibility that implementation of saving technology will only show the true motives of those in power to exploit the general public and reveal that the planet is only going through cyclical (catastrophic) changes over which we have zero influence.

It's not a guarantee. It often does the opposite as you laid out below.

One example: Electric cars are much more efficient, even though they must be charged the ultimate source of power can come from Renewables.

Another example: Farting cattle can be replaced with industrial scaled artificial growth of meat (not vegetable substitutes)

What misinformation - are you kidding? There are as many climate deniers as anti vaxers

I think that "those in power" should be trying to come up with ways of mitigating the effects on humanity, instead of bickering over whether it's happening or not (and why). The show political surrounding climate change is ridiculous.

Pure novelty. What is seriously wonderful though is why 'hydrogen on demand' technology which is readily available and known is not being implemented. It's extremely safe with zero emission and currently used internal combustion engines can easily be converted at very low cost. It would bring the oil based world economy to a screeching halt. The problem is just as much non-information as misinformation.

As far as climate denial is concerned, the deniers are presented with the same information as the rest of us so there's no misinformation there, just denial. Coming up with their own ignorant scenario is what marginalizes them along with the stupid anti-vaxxers.:bfold:

The US is full of science deniers. Climate change, anti vaxers, evolution deniers, flat earthers, etc.

In my life, this country has come full circle, from stupid to smart to stupid again. When I was born, the US was in a space race with the USSR and losing. The government wanted to ramp up science education and that was the focus of my generation. They couldn't graduate enough engineers.

Now, ignorance of science and denial of reality seem like a badge of honor. Politicians brag about their ignorance and voters eat it up. It's a phenomenon that I find quite fascinating.
