The GT30J127 IGBT is a difficult device to find a pinout for. A typical search will provide a diagram ... but is frustrating as the data sheet fails strangely to take the essential step of providing which pin is gate which is Collector and which is Emitter for its TO220SIS packaging.
Has anyone had experience with these, and if so could you be so kind as to advising what is the pinout please.

Many thanks that is a good start. Unsure why a manufacturer would firstly manufacture such a device and then not advise its pinout, - possibly the design department not speaking to the marketing department. Like making a car and hiding the steering wheel😀,
If you look at some manufacturer's datasheets for TO220, TO3-P and almost all TO3 types, you don't see pinouts there either. It's just convention and insider knowledge about deviations from it, that give us the pinouts and they may not all be the same, as when epoxy moulded transistors are sourced from different manufacturers... Anyone like yourself, who probably handles quite a few TO92 BJTs, perhaps made variously in the US, Europe, Japan, China etc. would have been caught out with oddball pinouts for BC series transistors - some just by reversed pin order but not always. In fact, it wasn't until I used one of those popular parts testers that it dawned on me why a few unusual semis I bought many years ago, never worked properly 🙄.
