Seas Excel crossover Frequency.

Hi, I have a 3 way system with one Seas Excel W26 ( 10" ) pr speaker.

Before I got my Accuphase F-20 crossing at 100Hz I was crossing at 200Hz.

Anyone have experience with his woofer in speaker system and what crossover frequency do you use / used?

Frank

Crossover to what? - a crossover usually involves two speakers. And if you post links to the data sheets, we'll know what you're talking about.
For a 3 way, the best bet is usually to cross the woofer to the mid at the baffle step frequency.

Hi, sorry ( : Here are some info. The 10" W26 is crossing to a 6.5" W18.
The woffer has 53L inclosement ( with one aqustic walve ), the midrange has 11L inclosement. The baffle step frequency is uknown for me.

I use the cheaper L26 Prestige. Both the W26 and L26 have a 4KHz primary breakup. I crossover my L26 at 220Hz with 2nd order acoustic slopes (from memory). I hear no signs of breakup induced distortion at that frequency.

At the time (waaaaay back in 2007) - the L26 had low bass distortion. When I got them I was surprised at how quiet they were motor wise when doing VAS measurements with added mass.

I think they'd be good to 500Hz if you needed to cross that high. It all depends on midrange placement and trying to keep within 1/4 wavelength distance at the crossover frequency, moreso than how high or low the W26 can play.

PeteMcK: Tanx! I will look at it.

Dave Bullet: Intresting, I think bouth are good woffers.

1/4 wavelenght at 200Hz is 1.75 ish meter / 4 = 0.43m = 43cm.

Senter / senter dome W18 / W26 is 25cm and edge / edge is 6,5cm on my speaker. As I say in post #1 I hade 200Hz before ( recomended by speaker builder Troles Gravesen. He got good result with that crossing in 3way ).

Now I have 100Hz an kind of like it but have not tryed 200Hz with new crossover ( hoping to get hands on a 180Hz card to the F-20 ). I like to hear moore experance with 10" woofer in 3 way systems. Frank

markbakk: The tweeter is a ScanSpeak 6600, with selfmade waveguide/cone to get it in aligment with the two other elements.
And the tweeter crossover is without capacitor like the "sine-cap" used in Sonus Faber Extrema. You can se the Mundorf resistor i use in the picture.
