Hi guys,
I am new to transistor stuff. I have been building tube amps for a good while and know where to buy tube stuff.
I live in Miami Florida. I buy transistors from Mouser and DigiKey electronics. Are there better places to by things from known MFGs like Texas Interments or Fairchild or other well known brands?
I bought some JFETs off Amazon which had no data sheets I could find. I had the same issues with tube stuff in the beginning until I found reliable venders.
I am looking mostly for discrete components and op-amps and a few ICs.
Thanks,
Billy

Digikey, Mouser, Newark(farnell), Arrow. they stock different manufacturers. Real ones are On, ST, Fairchild div on ON, Vishay, TI, Alfet, IR, zetex div of Diodes, inc, IXYS, renesas. Toshiba & sankyo are real but mostly not stocked in US except by counterfeiters. Siemens & telefunken are highly quoted on here, I haven't seen any stock since the 80's. Boca semi, Central semi, microtech, semelab, NTE leave out a lot of the specs of the parts they claim to sell. They are not the same as originals, even though stocked by the major distributors. Fairchild & On leave some specs out of copies of siemens & telefunken parts.
Rochester buys up the obsolete parts of the big houses, but you have to buy $250 worth of any item to get one.
I've found some obsolete parts in singles at electronicsurplus of OH and surplussales of nebraska. Parts source from auctions, not IMHO counterfeit. Some were rejects, like the "yellow" led's I got that were really red. $1.20 for 100 wasted. Electronicgoldmine seems to deal in floor sweepings. ebay & aliexp are bloated with silk screen artists that will put any part number you want on bits of plastic garbage.

Luckily in the USA you have many choices listed above. Here where I live the local guys buy imports from China.
So I use RS components here.

Thanks to all of you for the information.
I assume the pandemic has caused some supply shortages. I see many thing out of stock at both Mouser and DigiKey.

Profusion is very good company. I bought many Sankens there.

Pandemic situation heavily increased the delivery time of the parts. This year will be hard...

Yes, at some point I almost cleaned them out on some MT200's.
