So... if there are some leftovers after a certain cutoff point, are we doing another drawing with all the original winners' tickets (including those above) removed? :D

No way that's true, you are Swiss ;)

More seriously, no idea, just contact Jason about your issue and he will take care of it...

Yep, I contacted Jason, but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be a bit under water with all this stuff going on.

I ordered some parts from the diyAudio store a few days ago using my credit card. The system took me to my usual "double authentication" system, and it worked fine. With the VFET, the diyAudio store payment system did not take me to the authentication. It just said that my card was declined. Hmm.

Is there a way to pay with PayPal or by invoice / wire transfer? I want to make sure my reserved kit is not reallocated to the lottery of unpaid kits...

I understand that you are stressed about it, I would probably be too. But I think Jason and everyone will take care of it. When I got my email from Jason earlier today he explicitly wrote:

"Don't worry about any time pressure, we will make every effort possible to find everyone that won and get them their kit."

And given the flawlessness of this whole event so far, I think you are safe.

You will get your kit, and then we can hang out in the builders thread and share experiences :-D

So, is the Monkey Box/Coffin efficient enough for this amp?

I recently made a $9000 order from Digi-key (for ACA parts) and was nervous that it might be rejected.

So first I found out the exact amount. Then I called the credit card company and waited for 20 min. for a human.I then told them to please pre-approve the charge. It went through! So you could contact your company and mention your card had been rejected and blah blah. I think having the exact amount and the exact company name helps. If you get through to Jason get the exact name of the company billing your card and also ask him to try again..

I don't think they'd do that to you. You're clearly trying to make it work and once Jason ACKs I'm sure you'll be right as rain.

Except for the transition from 12Ω down to 4Ω as the woofer takes over, the impedance is nicely flat. The reactive phase at low frequencies might be an issue.

The amplifier will output less power below the transition and they might be a bit bass lite. If this is the case the Rs in the midtrange & tweeter circuit might require.have sufficient range reduction (changing the impedance response) to compensate.

This does not consider how much electrical damping the amplifer is expected to exert on the loudspeaker. Being sealed more internal damping might cure that if it is the case.

A little less than 90dB certainly efficient enuff i'd your room is not too large and you don’t crank it way up.

Oh yes! The Monkey Coffin is spec'd at an honest 92 dB-SPL at 1 m and 2.83 Vrms. The marketing department of any proper HiFi manufacturer would probably even claim higher than 95 dB by "forgetting" about baffle step and stuff... Just for fun I recently hooked up my headphone amp to the Monkeys, and it worked out okay for casual listening.

The phase peak is well below the cut-off frequency of the speaker, so I am not too worried,

...I called the credit card company and waited for 20 min. for a human.

They have humans? For conversation with customers on the phone? Wow, I didn't expect that. I guess I'll have to try finding one, too.

The actual measure shown suggests 89dB as more accurate.

The phase peak is well below the cut-off frequency of the speaker

As i read the graph worst at 100 Hz and just above resonance. Definitely right in the lower & midbass, and reaching up to the upper bass. I would fully expect that this loudspeaker could have issues in the bass. Someone will have to try it out.

And unlike an earlier speaker where Nelson suggested shunting a 22Ω R, the low impedance would preclude tha on these.

slim pickings

With Mr NP blessing like to build a VFET dead bug style
I live close to Mr G Rankin. I do not know GR only reading GL Audio mags (toobz)
and the occasional hello. Maybe see if I could set a friendly tube amp to Vfet amp
with NP and GR blessing also:D. Ps I like to buy the 4 output transistor from any forum members

Quote: I just ordered mine today.
$22 shipping for kit from the US and €15 for chassis from The EU, shipped to Spain. Not Bad at all.

You mean excellent! Sure about the shipping costs sides the US / from the store? I took the cheapest and slowest option and had 69$ shipping costs on my side to Paris / France, odd... but well...

Hi Jason - Did I win?! yippee! I havent received any notification.....

I will contact you, I am very keen.

thanks simon

Looks like we had to switch of DHL eCommerce's 3 cheaper services to FR and NZ during COVID. I have asked our shipper if we can re-activate them.

We will ensure you get your kit, even if we have to row a boat across the ocean to meet you in person to receive payment using a wheelbarrow full of plastic Transnistrian rubles. Look out for my email ... ;)

Jason or other moderators: I'm super excited to have been able to get one of these amps in the lottery! In order to maintain some sort of cosmic balance, I'd like to donate a pair or two of Vfets to the diyAudio site to accompany some of the future kits that will be offered. I purchased them in 2015 from acroman.

How can I follow up with this?

How very conscientious. May the universe return your goodwill. Of course this is up to you, I'd rather be at arms length. Testing, warranties etc. But since you asked me to reply, I think if you send them to the same place the ones in your kit have come from (Nelson), they'll be assured to go to a good home and balance will be restored to the universe. If you'd like to be more hands-on, you might consider starting a thread and have the winner make a donation to one of the registered charities.
