Just placed my kit/chassis order! Thanks to ALL who made this possible.

Already feeling some pressure to get this one right. (I'll be the one to blow up the output stage).

For example here's a list of some "boners" I've pulled on other builds:

Pearl II - installed RadioShack LED with integrated resistor.
F5 - needed to change resistors to get to full bias.
BA3-FE - miss calculated values for Salas BIB PS.
M2 - missed one leg going into the socket for the optocoupler.
M2X - reversed inputs and outputs.
B1 w/Korg - installed jumper in wrong spot.

B1 and ACA went without a hitch...so I've got that going for me.

All mistakes are due to haste in rushing to get things up and running.

Moral of the story is...take your time.

I just tried to pay for the VFET kit, but the system declined my credit card. Did anyone else have similar issues? Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative ways to get my money into the diyAudio store so I don't lose my reservation for "my" kit?

You might want to check with your bank. After entering the order, I got an URGENT email from my credit union asking me to confirm that the order was legit. I did so, and was then informed that if the transaction had been initially rejected, I could place the order again, and it would be paid.

Just a possibility.

Emails have now been sent to everyone we have a working email address for.

A few members over the last week have asked if there will be a way that they can make a donation to the causes mentioned. Now you can, see donations to two great charities. Cheers.
Sorry for the confusion: are these the confirmation mails that you can reach our mail, or the actual purchase mail? I have the former, have not received the latter.

Sorry if I misunderstood.
Rafa.

Edit: found it in promotions!, sorry.

I must be one of the early ones to receive Jason's link to make the purchase.

As a heads up to those that don't already know, shipping prices have sky rocketed a lot since last year (at least where I am in NZ). To give you an idea:

Without Chassis:

With Chassis:

Anotherwords, to buy the chassis the extra price would be $342.42 USD. This was the same issue I had in picos "Ultimate 4U 500mm Chassis". Shipping large items is big bucks to NZ :|
Well, you have it relatively cheap. My shipping cost will be $270! More than 50% over the price of the purchase, and that is not taking taxes into account. Ouch!

It sucks living here in times like this.

Rafa.

No way that's true, you are Swiss ;)

More seriously, no idea, just contact Jason about your issue and he will take care of it...

Order placed, all went very smooth.

Thank you for adding the "tip" function, too. That also worked well. I'm sure all of us can think of loved ones we have lost to cancer, and also know of someone who has taken their own life. These are very worthy causes - thank you again for facilitating the donations with this project.

I have a fresh roll of solder ready for this amp! I just finished up my last roll yesterday on a power supply that will go into a J2 clone that started with the Semisouth CodyT / Nelson thread. Sometimes lightning does strike the same place twice! 2021 is already looking to be so much better than 2020!

Once again, a big thank you to Jason, Nelson, Jim, and Mark!!!

Hello,

Just because women have also ears and are our solid rock ancher in this world of miserability or misery (pardon m english) whoever she is a spouse, a mother, a sister, etc, is there not a link for breast-cancers fundation as well.

Please don't see any sarcasm in it as it is not (i'm dead serious here). And btw it can touch (rarely) men as well (as I know prostate disease is touching as high as 70/80% of us if our life is long enough (understand above 55/60 yo)

I believe it could be fair, but no criticism... too many good causes, not monney enough for them all. It's really great to see here something that is not only testosterone involved.

Thank you to everyone who made this happened and to those who make diyAudio such a great place.

I am very grateful and lucky I have been given the opportunity to build and will enjoy listing to the amp; it will be my first time to hear a VFET amp. Hopefully, Mr. Pass will forgive me approaching him the next time I see him dining at Trinks so that I may express my thanks for his sharing of his generosity and of his creations.

Congratulations to all the winners and good luck to everyone who are still in the lottery.
