Back in the 90s there was a radio show where the DJ asked for people to send in recordings of deep purple 'smoke on the water' on odd instruments. The responses included a fork lift truck, an air drill, a dot matrix printer and a hurdy gurdy!
I should find you a copy of the solid wall of "Louis Louis" 100's of versions all played at once.
Another question is the restricted lifetime of tuning due to evaporation of the liquid inside the glasses
That's the best track I've heard in a while.

10 years ago, (EDIT: OK, eight years ago) I went out and sampled the different sounds of Davisville Yard from the Beltline bridge. I wrote a drum and bass song using the samples... The wheels over the track gaps became the snare. The air valves letting off became the crash, etc...
There's even a part where one train went over a switch while another let it's air out. That makes a "chugga chugga pish" in the song... Not everyone's type of music, and the first time I've posted it anywhere...

Edit: That's not how it ends, but convert an .XM to mp3, and then upload it somewhere... Maybe one day, I'll finish it.
