Bobbin
It is not a coil, it is the bobbin which is repeatedly passed through the center of the toroid. The existing center is not large enough to pass the as-purchased roll of wire through.

So that rig of yours is just to wind the shuttle? At first I thought it was a jig to repeatedly pass the shuttle through the toroid.100, 200 times thru is not too bad, but 1700 times by hand would border on insane. You really need to be able put put a set of windings on in a single session, otherwise they get pretty loose. How would you get it tight again if you had to put it down for an hour (or a day) and rest your hands? Loose windings wear thru over time. One of the reasons I was considering multiple poly dips. I know one won’t do it, but ten will start to build up some thickness and latch adjacent to wires together in place.
I made a 4x15V out of a 2x30V toroid. Took off all the secondary while counting turns and rewound with center tap. Two days of spare time... It works a treat!
thanks Tony. I've gotten a virus by clicking on an external picture hosting site, I don't do that anymore. Besides, most sites wants your birthdate, address, drivers lic #, credit card number for their "free" services. To put picture on diyaudio, click "go advance", browse hard drive for picture file, upload. Right way to do it. Every edit requires going advanced again or the pictures disappear.
Don't understand the winding jig. What good is a coil 14" long by 1" wide by 1" thick? Toroids are 3/8" to 1.5" in diameter in a circle 1 to 6 inches, the ones I've salvaged. Toroids don't have a hatch to slip a prewound coil over them. EI transformers do.
i used to have a photobucket account, but once they started collecting money, i simply ran away and used the forum instead.....i am a sucker for freebies...
you are right, the EI's are by far easier....

Agree. They go out of business, hold your pix hostage, monetize them in sad ways. Last month a well-trusted pic-host we used on another audio site suddenly started filing on their "XXX" site. Pedals and pussies, so to speak. Embarrassing, and porn attracts malware.
picture on diyaudio, .... Every edit requires going advanced again or the pictures disappear.....
No. When you come-around after an edit, the pic does not render, true. But that is a bug/glitch. Hit Refresh (F5) (round arrow). The pic is there but something about the edit loop confuses *your* browser. Everybody else sees it.
Okay, thanks. So the 1"x14"x1" coil passes through the hole in the toroid 700 times or whatever as builder tighten up the winding. That makes sense.
I
Seems a shame to use up DIYAUDIO site web space which costs them money.
Also, if for some reason you want the picture removed you can with imgbb but not with DIYAUDIO.
It's not a shame at all... DIYaudio has control over the data that way. There are too many old threads with missing images from 10+ years ago, and disk space is cheap. All the attachments I've added to DIYAudio in 10 years only take up 280 megs. Also, you can delete attachments on here if you need to. Worst case you flag the post and get a mod to do it for you.
I have my own web space and the more I use the more it costs.
DIYAUDIO is provided free and so should be used sparingly to keep costs down.
My total pictures on DIYAUDIO is zero megabytes.

It's provided for free, Donations are accepted and encouraged though. I donate every year, and far more than the cost of a few hundred megs.
Perhaps a mod can chime in here. I seem to remember that linking images is discouraged and attachments should be uploaded here instead.

this has gone off-topic, but I used to use photobucket and they suspended my acccount for "hosting" Now I know what that is: Putting a link to them on a forum. But I do really appreciate the feedback I got on posting pictures. Smileys to all.

Your comment about the vibration makes sense; hopefully it is not part of my future.
One of the jobs in my past career was at a factory making mil spec HV power supplies. We had about 10 technicians who wound custom transformers, and a pair of vacuum ovens for impregnation. Sometimes, however, we would still have an air bubble which allowed corona to deteriorate the insulation and the transformer to fail.
I suppose one might dip the transformer several times during the winding process to ensure the "varnish" got everywhere, but what a mess that would be.
Images uploaded to diyaudio are safe, consistantly work, and stay working. I don't see how or why anyone would be arguing that an externally hosted image is better, if diyaudio would rather you upload. Visible thumbnail image that can be enlarged is great, or hosted that opens another tab? Why?

this is done outdoors with plenty of ventilation...
dipping, dripping, dipping and dripping again for about 30 minutes, then hung up under the hot sun to dry....
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
