He said he has metal rods on order to make the scaffolding. I'm not sure I've seen a cooler DIY loudspeaker project because the wall of sound was tied into the Grateful Dead experience. This guy could have people showing up to camp outside his house.

Those that poo poo the 'Wall of sound" without actually experiencing it...well, I am thankful that I did in Portland Oregon, late seventies?, it's a bit hazy on the dates & year.
Now when our recording medium has a hundred 'tracks' that have each & every instrument...down to each & every drum...& apply it to its own driver???
All other outdoor venues I compare it to this wonderful creation...none so far come close.

The venue was at the racetrack, we got there maybe 9:30 in the morning, it lightly tried to rain in the middle of the afternoon, just a sprinkle, didn't last long.

I distinctly recall hearing "Fire on the mountain" with the drum strikes moving left to right & up along the giant non-descript right-side panel....telling me a single microphone was mounted on each instrument & had its own driver.
Researching this device had the original design scrapped before I heard the 'Dead'...and replaced with a more conventional set-up...but it truly was a gigantic array flanking the stage. What gear, what tech was retained & what was pitched, there is little information. I have not seen such large arrays since.

My Wall of Sound Project

So the project you are referring to is mine. I am a luthier and guitar speaker cabinet maker. The project is the first in a series of increasingly larger walls with the goal of recreating the wall at some point as a permanent fixture somewhere. I have the capacity for building the wall and with help from people like you fine folks it will happen. Many of the original people involved in creating the wall are still around as well. This version is too small to replicate the full effect of the wall so it will be designed just as a visual piece of living art measuring 6' x 9' and it will have between 400 and 500 functioning speakers. The first version is being done one the "cheap". Mind you, cheap is a relative term. Even at $1-$3 a speaker this is an expensive project. You can see it here

As of now I'm only posting the project on FB and Instagram but after this project I'll have a formal page for the next one.
