Dear all,
I would love to get 1-2 boards to mate the pluto+ subwoofer with my speakers using this w-asp board. Info about it is here:
Pluto + subwoofer
In case somebody has still 1-2 boards (woofer asp or w-asp) sitting on the shelf waiting for a happy owner please contact me!
Unfortunately, Linkwitz no longer supplies these boards (despite a contrary statement on his website, but I guess it hasn't been updated a while).

Still lookin'
Would be cool to get original boards from the grand master!
Would be much nicer than doing my own ;-)

I would check with Frank Brenner at magiclx521.com.
He has all of the IP of Linkwitzlabs.com and might consider doing another production run of those boards.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
many thanks for your reply - he has no boards either, unfortunately. Also no Gerbers etc.
Given the age of the project I doubt there will be another run.

Well, he does have the files, but I suppose I can understand not being interested in another production run. Very few people would purchase these boards and it probably would not be cost effective.
A DSP-based setup is not of interest to you????
Dave.

Hi Dave,
I fully agree!
>>A DSP-based setup is not of interest to you????
Nah, I'm an analogue guy. DSP is all nice and super convenient, but it doesn't interest me so much.
As I love Linkwitz' stuff I would prefer an original board, but I can do my own, no worries.

What kind of crossover do you have in mind?
Single supply buffer with jfets like the original?
I want to substitute my minidsp at one point (although probably not immediately).
I like the idea of using jfet buffers with a split supply (ideally omitting most coupling capacitors) but find typical jfets too expensive for what they are (well in this simple circuit at least).
I was thinking making simple diamond buffers with 2xBC327+2xBC337+4xR.
About 6 stages max. for each path (HI&LO); 2-way-crossover.
These could be quickly matched, they are cheap and have low output impedance.

I'm sorry I guess you're talking about the LX521 crossover or some other newer Linkwitz' project. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with anything that came after the Orion 3.3.
I want to build the Pluto+ subwoofer, which is a Linkwitz design from ca. 2004 or so.
Pluto + subwoofer
The ASP board is fully analogue using opamps for buffer, biquad and LR4 filters.
It is (technically) very similar to the Orion ASP board.
The nice thing about the Pluto+ subwoofer is that it is a generic design that can be combined with pretty much any loudspeaker.
So - if you want to extend your current speakers down to 20 Hz flat - you can do so by adding just a little subwoofer with a volume of only 15 l or so. It is really a small box. All required equalization to get a flat response is then done by the ASP.
Isn´t it the LXmini-XO? Anyways, sorry and yes, I was thinking of that one.you're talking about the LX521 crossover
People refer to it as ASP-XO so I got it mixed up.
The Pluto-sub sure must be nice.
I use the 830669 on a slim open baffle with a minidsp (relatively new setup).
Slight EQ on the bass and it plays almost effortlessy down to 50Hz at moderate SPLs. I absolutely love that driver. It´s better than the 15" I had in a h-frame before. Only way to upgrade is put a 2nd driver on the baffle or use one sealed with as much Linkwitz transform as wanted.
PS.: if you still need to buy the 830669: There is a guy in Berlin that sells "new" ones that have been lying on the rooftop for 12 years or so. That´s where I got my pair from. 100€ for a pair.

The w-ASP board would need rework anyways to accommodate newer capacitors with different lead spacings. The last revision on that board was back in 2006. 🙂Hi Dave,
