So, I figured out what was wrong yesterday:
Cloudy and really windy
No winter coat
No gloves
No toque
No rum
I won't make those mistakes again. 🙂

Make sure it's a hot rum toddy (minus the toddy) and you should be good to go!
I suppose George Lucas traveled to Haukilahti, Finland before writing SW The Empire Strikes Back. Some of those are pretty cool I must say.
I don't see anything that special about water towers.
In UK we do indeed have funnel shaped ones and I was able to get a screen grab of one pretty quickly and also a more traditional one.
They come in all shapes and sizes depending on there surroundings and when they were built.
That traditional one looks very like the M40 just before the Brackley junction.
Yes you are spot on.
It is between the A43 junction and the A34 junction on the M40.
I just picked the funnel one and the one by the M40 as I have seen them both while travelling and can as a result get to them with street view easily.

Icy cold winter blew my face at -15 degrees
Last year at the same time, I was lying in the sun by the lake.
Every year is different and not every year is "climate change"

I haven't visited Haukilahti water tower restaurant, but I'd want to. Espoo is next to our capital Helsinki, by Baltic Sea

The overnight low for Monday, Feb. 15, in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Texas area might might hit -18 C (0 F). And we might have 200 mm (8 inches) of snow on the.ground.
Yesterday was a relly cräppy day.
I had promised to take a good friend to her migraine doctor some 50 miles away for her quarterly shots, but my car just made a lame attempt to start and then died. So we rented a car and when coming back the insurance company sent a tow truck that easily started my car and I took it for a drive to charge the battery when the STOP-light came on (have I written this before??!! 😕), the water temperature was 100+ C. When I pulled over and opened the bonnet/hood (*) I saw water bubbling out from the cooler/radiator and I had to have the tow truck to come and take my car to a garage.
It was almost -20C in the morning and I guess that was too much for the car battery and also ruined the cooler/radiator. I don't think the engine is damaged but that I will on Monday.
(*) I am watching Wheeler Dealers where they speak UK/US car-english.

Soundbrigade,
Year and make of car?
No block heater?
Hopefully no damage!
Peaked at -43.3 C yesterday morning (Flin Flon airport) and likely the same this morning. Saw -44 in town. Luckily no wind and sunny days so it actually warmed to a much more bearable -24-25 in the afternoon.

Currently 19 F in Northern Lower Mi with a broken layer around 3200 feet and wind out the south knocking snow out of the pine trees.
Later today snow showers. High near 22. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

8F / - 14C at high noon here in the northwest corner of Arkansas. They're predicting a good quantity of snow beginning tomorrow. It's been spitting snow the last couple of days, so everything has a light snow dust on it.

Ouch!
Peugeot 206SW, 75hk, year 2006. No block heter. I could go for 5 km and nothing was out of the ordinary until warning light came on.Soundbrigade,

A friend said that a radiator sometimes cracks upen at seams between aluminium and plastic due to corrosion. If such a joint broke, the engine block was meybe pretty emptied.
Anway, the cold weather continues with temperatures between -10 and -15 C.
I guess we will see Peugeot again with the Fiat deal with them. Which engine! Block heater would be worth adding while the rad is being replaced. Maybe try a small ceramic fan heater under the hood with a n old blanket & tarp for now.
I picked up a 2012 Ford Fiesta over a year ago that was written off from a minor front end accident for cheap as it looked bad in the photos and it has the the DSP6 auto that there was a class action lawsuit against and the owners won. Will eventually put a std. trans. in it.
No temp gauge in it either, so will have to add one, but still looking for cheap used body parts. Sure handles great as I drove it out of the junk yard!

I have seen radiator fluid slush up and cause the engine to overheat. Engine and radiator survived it.
The main thing is to let the engine really cool before cranking it again. The radiator could that and dump cold water into a hot engine in that case.
