Willing to pay someone for amp advice

Then again oh, I've had just as many people warned me that icepower seems to have slightly grainy highs.
That's funny because I found the Icepower amps to be very neutral and correct. To me the highs were quite smooth and natural, while I had friends tell me they thought the highs were too soft and rolled off. Go figure. :scratch2:

Get a way to do EQ, preferably in the digital domain without an AD/DA stage invlolved, and you should be pleased with any of the latest class-D amps of high quality. Wondom, as I see it, is mostly about most Watt/dollar.

It seems to me you're just jumping around on brand names and model numbers. That's pretty useless if you ask me.

It would be better to first understand what you need, and what the amp really needs to do. Just as an example, you wrote that you want a 200 W amp for your 89 dB/W/m speakers. That seems like utter nonsense to me, at least if you'll use this equipment in a home environment.

No amplifier will sound musical

Just be aware of my headline. If nothing is broken its most likely your rooms reflections or the frequensiresponce of your speakers that makes the sound unpleasant. Eq software or room corection will go a long way.

Nothing changed in my listening room. I do have good wall and floor treatment. The ONLY change was amplifiers. From Marantz to different Wondom board amps. The magic went away for listeners fatigue.
Seems like there is not a better than average sounding Class D amplifier board and power supply. They must all sound the same. Hypex, Puifi, etc. None of them must lean towards midrange fullness, or warmth in sound. I had no clue all the different digital type board amp technologies sounded the same.
Looks like I have to go back to Class AB to get natural sound that isn't fatiguing. This is strange to me. This is the same conclusion I came to when trying to get help with this exact subject 3 years ago. I just figured advancements had improved upon on the digital amplifier technology sound. I've had lots of contacts and p.m. about this, and not one model number recommendation. Apparently nothing stands out as better-sounding then the pack. I'm not sure why class D is still around considering I've not been impressed with any of it. This is including a highly modded, hyper expensive class D amp from a top manufacturer. I remember a friend bringing it over all proud of it after it was broken in. We took it out of the system, and put it in my class A B amp and it stomped on the Class D amp. 50 watts of Class AB sounded better than the best digital amp offered. He returned it the following day. This person owns one of the best speaker companies we all know. That experience was telling for both of us. I figured time would have improved the sound, but noone has hinted that is correct.

Statistically, if a majority of reports start to point to that class-d is preferred and at the same a majority started to change their amps. Whats would that tell us?

An audio system is the sum of it parts. Maybe one of the components make you like an AB amp better than a D one. With this logic it must be some other component in your rig that is holding it back - som component that needs a "softening" or "filtering" effect to make it "listenable". And if there is indeed such a component in your system, it is holding you back from progress.

This is of course only a logic reasoning and a hypothesis - that might be correct or not.

If it was correct - which of the components in your system would you suspect?

I am not surprised at all about your observations regarding class-D vs. class-A or AB.

I'm starting to figure that out. I'm a bit surprised it hasn't changed this way. I'm also surprised there isn't any generalities which allow for easier sound characteristics to be compared and described.
I figured there were tiers, or rankings if you will, regarding sound quality. I will most likely go with an Odyssey amplifier, or a not overly tube sounding tube amp, lol. Knock out the front wall a few feet, and build a box jutting out to house the amplifier out of the walkway.😀

... I'm also surprised there isn't any generalities which allow for easier sound characteristics to be compared and described...
Comparison of measured quantities is fine but comparison of perceived sonic qualities would most likely bring about irrational heated debate complete with wild accusation and vocabulary used by the uncultured, at least here. We have too many who need to be seen as superior authority but carry conflicting opinions.
