The Black Hole......

Yes Joe can you express what you are trying to say in terms of the power dissipated in a complex impedance?

EDIT Come on jn let it rip. 🙂
There is little to be served explaining.

It's like a coke bottle falling from the sky.

I am enjoying sitting in the cheap seats laughing to myself.

Ps.. they finally hired my replacement... in a few years, I will be able to leave knowing "stuff" will not be lost.

Ps.. yes, I respect Earl, the quote attributed to him is quite inaccurate. It remains to be seen if it was taken out of context or not.

You guys can't have it both ways.

I am a student of logic, this is absurd.

What I am pointing to, and I gave an example which perhaps was not understood (or more likely did not even try), that understanding this topic can lead to better speakers and better amplifiers. Maybe there is a view that can't happen. Perhaps that explains it, but I disagree, I think they could be designed better still and I might actually be in the majority and criticised by a minority? Yep, that is what I see.

As for me being here? Because it's a free world and what's more, free speech actually matters even if Big Brother does not like it? 😀

I revel in my decision to not engage.. so freeing....

"They call him mellow yellow...
quite rightly"

Nice to read your dulcet prose again, John! When you going to develop that Electrical Banana? (see above)

To Joe; Having built systems with varying approaches to current feedback, once the system is equalized for flat response I like the improvement in SQ, I find it is mostly in improved dynamics. The first implementation I was involved in the early 1990s I was screwed out of any return (my lawyer was apparently cheaper than theirs). A recent implementation I had fun working on was a powered studio speaker system now selling for $65k, 8 channels of amps totaling several KW. That job made a few $$s, but on a $/hr basis would be better described as a hobby project than a commercial job...*sigh*

I guess I'm not smart or crooked enough to get rich in audio...good thing I learned how to fix my 20 year old lawn mower...

"When the sun beats down and I lie on the bench
I can always hear them talk
Me, I'm just a lawnmower
You can tell me by the way I walk..."

Cheers!

Misquoting is wrongdoing.

Intentional misquoting or quoting out of context (equivalent to putting words in someone’s mouth) is an intellectual fraud.

Always post traceback data (source of information or a link to it).

When referring to what a forum member wrote in a post, either link to post’s address or use the ‘Quote’ button.

Don’t edit quoted text (Forum Rule #12)

"Back EMF has been known for almost 100 years now. It can be shown that as far as the amp is concerned the back EMF simply looks like a complex impedance...There simply is no difference between back-EMF and impedance." Earle Geddes, with full permission to quote him.

Bingo!

As per moderation comment above, please link to the post containing the statement so that we can understand the context.

I cannot remember the name of the theory, but it is that any resistor in a network carrying current can be replaced by a P.D which is the same as that produced by the resistance and current.

If there is a criticism of a post, it may or may not be directed at the person but rather at his comments, this determined by often subtle modifier accompaniments.
