Just ordered 2 18" SI HST D1 drivers..

I have an Inuke 12000 to run both in sealed 4.0 CF boxes. They are replacing two 4X10" sealed boxes that the drivers are just wearing out. Nick at SI says the Parts Express flat pack 18" are not strong enough for his drivers. So I'm thinking about having Bobby Gatley or John Nolte making me a couple of nice boxes. The journey begins!
HST- mkIII

These drivers are good in small closed boxes, but if you double the volume, here is what you could have too.

Totally agree. I guess a ported design is a compromise though, eg slight space saving of ported vs increased performance of TQWT ? An 18" driver in a TL is huge!

Yes, you can stuff the box/vent to 'taste' same as the TQWT.

No real space saving since you just combine the box, vent net volumes [Vb], total box depth/vent path-length to make the TQWT and still have the advantage of fine tuning it in room if needed with a now very short vent [aka ML-TQWT]. Win-win IME.

ML-TQWT is new to me, but I'm very interested if it's same volume but better performance for a given driver. I'll do a bit of research, thanks GM, you've sent me down another rabbit hole ! 🙂
