I.completely concur. While I’ve upgraded internal pre-amp wiring from damaged upscale interconnects to my delight (no more brassiness) “directional” is on the far side of the cultic fringe.

The next day, unprompted, the husband asks his wife if she did anything different with her hair because it looks great today. He watches her face light up. Relationship goals.

SY came up with an interesting theory on the wifeinkitchen story. All to do with domestic harmony. It's probably more credible than them actually hearing a difference
That was a great story! I loved how he'd inadvertently classically conditioned his wife to provide compliments when he played a certain track that he usually only played after messing with the stereo. BF Skinner would be proud.

Such an open minded opinion, unfortunately what I have come to expect from these audio fora.
Actually my wife enjoyed listening with me often, and had a damnably fine set of ears. When I carried in the stacked Quads, her words were "They stay, and I go." After listening to some of her favourite music, she ended up paying for them.
