I have a MF M1DAC and there used to be slight intermittent crackle in right channel.. turning the DAC on off usually fixed it.. a few days back there was some more crackle and then no sound from the right channel. If I remove the left channel interconnect, I notice the right channel is VERY faint..
Any hope of fixing it?

There is a high probability of a break there - check the quality of the soldering. If there is no sound on the XLR, then the relay or output capacitors are unlikely to be a problem. The DAC chip is one for both channels, so the problem is most likely not in it. Look around the opamp.
Thank you - I had a scan and couldnt quite see anything obvious - also dont quite know what to look for. No obvious burns..
The DAC chip might be common to both channels but in those BB/TI DACs the channels have a power supply pin that's independent of one another. If this pin had a dodgy solder then it could cause one channel to drop out intermittently. I wouldn't expect to hear faint music in the wrong channel though.
The problem could be with the muting relays on the output. Sometimes the contacts within them do degrade of time. Turning the unit on and off would cause the relays to switch and in doing so bash the contacts together. This would potentially fix the problem for a short time.
It's impossible to tell just by looking though.
