Have you tested the VFETs? The TA-N88 is notorious for failures in the bias supply, which easily damages the normally-on VFETs at powering up the amp.
I checked each vfet as explained at pag 4 of Ta-n88 amp Sony Service Manual.
S-D resistance around 1.1/1.3 Ohm
G-D as diode
S-G as diode
No bias failure. Bias Is present but cannot be adjusted at
+/-78V with switching transistors ok

Exactly. The gate to channel voltage has to be present when (before) the drain-source voltage is applied.
Has anyone actually seen fake VFETs?
As a matter of interest, I have a 2SJ28 Vfet that measures around 1 ohms on the S-D measurement but is internally flawed when used in the circuit. No bias voltage in my test (and I tested it 3 times) was able to stop it from conducting.
As far as fake VFets - i've heard of eBay sales from China selling perhaps re-badged VFets. ie. possibly the half die version 2SK60 or 2SJ18 being sold as the 2SJ28 / 2SK82. If you dig deep enough in the forum there are such photos depicting this case.
Is there a reason for selling all 12 pairs? Don't like the sound?

The ones I attached are suspected fakes. Read about it here:

I own others vfet Amps. I bought 3 ta-n88b versione amo during Yeats. I like much vfet sound: the only type of amps in my sound system.

Francesco, se io avessi i soldi comprerei i tuoi VFET
Francesco, if I had the money I would buy your VFETs

Did anyone try to buy parts from Francesco?
I contacted Francesco, and we exchanged a few emails. He indicated that all 12 pairs are still available, but he asked a lot more money. Oh well, these parts are hard to find, so I thought I'd still pull the trigger. He agreed to PayPal, but when I asked him for a PayPal invoice that specifies "Sony VFETs, tested and working" he did not respond anymore. All I wanted was to make sure that there is a possibility to return the parts and get a refund in case the parts that don't work as they should. I have have bad luck before, and at this price level I simply don't want to take any risks of losing my money.
I'd really like to take this forward, but it seems that things don't work out in my favor here.

I just got a positive email from Francesco -- he was away for a few days and obviously did not check his email.
The testing is easy. It seems to tricky part is to convince Franceso to actually release his parts...

I know maybe a bit much to ask but do you have a matched pair 2SK82 available still? Need a perfectly matched pair 2SK82 E or D rank.
