Dear forum, I recently order to Dave from planet10 the planset to build the diamond shape for the 11ms. I had some leftovers of baltic birch plywood 18mm, but no enough to do this project, so I went to my local store and ordered some cuts. But they did not use birch, but PINE instead. Much lighter and not so dense, but it is a pity to have it cut for nothing (even if they gave the money back...) So my question is, shall I use that material or just pay for the baltic birch?
I attach photo of the material. Thanks all!

Well, I would not dare to say, the guy in the shop said it is suitable for isolating recording studios, but i would not use them if there’s any doubt.
Pine is fine. You are looking for many plies, and no voids.
If the materials you can get are not 18mm i can draw the box for you with the sheet sizes you can get. If the 18mm you already have is sufficiently large i would use that for the baffles.

Thanks Dave, will be using the pine for the top and bottom. The rest will be baltic birch. No need to redo the plan, they are 18mm. Looks good quality, just lighter than baltic birch.
So many thanks!
So many thanks!
How can you tell if it's got voids?
I don't think you can, it just looks good quality, and this firm supplies very good material in general.

Lighter is good as long as stiffness does not suffer.

You find out you have a void when you cut thru one. You have to trust the vendor.

I checked the cuts and I didn't see holes or pieces falling or dark colors, so I guess the wood is without voids.
