Hi! I`m interested in replacing my bass BR-boxes with hornsubs, in case this would be a better match to the rest of my system, which is horns. I`ve loked at different solutions, that it seems that a lot of people are happy with, eg the F-20, see Lilmike's Cinema F-20 | AVS Forum or Bill Fitzmaurice Tuba HT (the low profile version would be best fit in my room), see Tuba HT.
I notice that in both of these subwoofers the drivers have high MMS, compared to the Faital 15FX560 (see FaitalPRO | LF Loudspeakers | 15FX560 (8Ω)), that i use in my BR-boxes (two in each 200l box).
Would the bass from the hornsub still be fast and snappy compared to the BR-box? Is the high MMS necessary for the extension, or is it also to get the necessary mechanical strength?
I would sacrifice some extension for fast, articulate bass, if that is the tradeoff. 30-100Hz would be good enough, but with high efficiency. Above the bass I have 4 horns covering the rest of the frequency band.

1)The primary "feature" of a horn system is arguably the pattern control they provide. In a typical home listening room, below the Schroeder or "transition" frequency, any pattern control a horn might afford (very little at frequencies below 100 Hz) is swamped by room modes. As Little Mike says: "Most of a subs perception in the room is related to the room, not the sub."1)I`m interested in replacing my bass BR-boxes with hornsubs, in case this would be a better match to the rest of my system, which is horns.

2)"Fast and snappy" are subjective terms usually reserved for the upper harmonics of bass, which would normally be largely attenuated by a 100 Hz crossover. That said, I'd doubt you would find either the F-20 or Tuba HT to sound more "snappy" than your Faital 15FX560 dual BR in the 100 Hz range.
3) The very low Fs and high excursion of the Dayton RSS390HO-4 (19.5 Hz, 14mm) and Eminence 1525F11237 (15Hz, 13mm) require stiff cones to remain pistonic at high drive levels, and stiff cones are heavy. The (unusually) light cone of the Faital 15FX560 would probably distort quite badly if subjected to the additional loading a FLH near it's Fs would provide.
4)Other than a couple narrow band peaks at around 100 and 150Hz, the F-20 appears to have a sensitivity of around 95 dB one watt one meter. I'd think that your present subs would exceed that sensitivity by a fair amount for much of their pass-band.
Lowering the Fb of your present boxes could give you extension into the 30Hz range, you could experiment adding external port extensions to determine if they can provide the level you want at the lower frequencies.

Thanks for the thorough answer! The efficiency is ok as is, but it is mostly the curiosity that want me to try something else. But you may be right, I should probably be satisfied with the bass as is. I mat have the chance
to get 4 more Faital for a reasonable price. There is room to stack two more BR-boxes on top of the others..

I wasn't suggesting you should be satisfied with your bass "as is", there could be as much as an octave difference between the -3dB point of the F-20 and your BR cabinets, which can be a "big deal" for some music, or hardly any difference for a lot of it.
You might also find putting an additional pair of BR-boxes in other locations would result in smoother bass response than you have presently.
