hi all, long time listener first time caller.
I just purchased an O2 amp kit and am looking to add a 1/4" input to it. The idea is to use it as a guitar headphone amp as well. How can I go about this?
I'm relatively new to this: I've built a small amp and a guitar overdrive pedal years ago but have never modded anything. This is just for fun. Thanks for any pointers or links to other threads.

After adding the jack on the chassis (with insulated mounting if it's metal), wire the common
(ground) terminal to the amp ground. Wire the hot terminal either directly to the other input
jack hot terminal, or to the board input. It's just in parallel with the other input. But don't use
both inputs at the same time.
Of course, instead you could use an adapter, 1/4" female to RCA male. Much easier.

It's not the plug-size. The headphone amp expects signals near 1 Volt (~5V max output, gain of 6 or 2). The guitar mostly puts out tenth-volt signals; 50mV and 20mV are popular reference sensitivities. (Yes, you can find 1V peaks from e-guitar but they are hard work.)
So it "will play" if you strum REAL HARD.
You want a Guitar Preamp in front of the headphone amp. Which can be a bottomless pit. Just a little boost? 29 different knobs and effects? Technology from 1937, 1959, 1972, 2020?
First crack, after you get the plug adapter, is try your several boosters and distorters. Carefully!! Some won't be loud, some will blow your ears out.

Thanks. Would it be reasonable to add a switch so i can leave both plugged in at the same time?
Sure, it should be near the inputs, preferably in between them. Just switch the hot leads.
