Two TPA3255 Amplifiers HiFi Builds

I'm thinking about building a dual TPA3255.

Has somebody built one?

Proposed build.

1. 2x TPA3255 high quality stereo amplifier boards that can be configured in mono mode each for Left and Right stereo signal input through each amplifier bridged to single mono output.

2. Power supply would be high quality 48VDC continuous 1200W ouput design.

3. Balanced left and right inputs

4. Possible audio input processor card in parallel by switch on audio input signal path, off a switch control for WIFI 6 AX blue tooth 5 wireless signal receiver and sound processor/DAC.

5. Enclosure would be all aluminum with heat sink design make contact with aluminum enclosure by physical heatsink contact with TPA3255 IC and the enclosure.

6. Enclosure would have thermal transfer fins on sides with flat surface on front and rear . Top would be natural wood finish covering power supply unit with clear glass for visibility to left and right dual TPA3255 amplifier boards.

7. Would use liquid metal thermal insulate material where possible and high thermal transfer pad material if necessary. Bottom side of enclosure would have filtered passive filters and so would back side of case.

8. Overall dimensions would be for smallest foot print on all sides.

Is the technology available for my proposed dual TPA3255 build?

Thanks.

Update.

After some research I've found a TPA3255 amp that can be configured to Mono output. Two of these in Mono out put mode may work out well.

Made by Class Audio. Looks well built with the 4 layer "Gold" PCB as the base of the card.

Also found a SMPX power Supply made by Hypex.

Looking more pricier than what I was thinking.

1200W (2xChannel 600W each) small footprint audiophile grade stereo hi-fi for $600 seem like a good deal?

Yes.

The proposed build would have two of them each in mono.
Left AND Right 2 channel.

STEREO L input to 1xTPA3255 Mono to L Speaker Load.
STEREO R input to 1xTPA3255 Mono to R Speaker Load.

Effective output Stereo L and R Hi-Fi.

Rated for 600w@2ohm each TPA3255 x 2 = total 1200W out put design.

If it were me, I'd Email this company and ask them what caps (C1 to C8) are used plus what Op Amps are used. Upgraded caps are most likely wanted.

Also I'd ask them to install Dip-8 sockets so that you can roll Op Amps in the future.

Thanks for the great questions ROB43.

I will definitely investigate.

The WEB site does state they make each when ordered so hopefully the photo represents a finished design but there is options for higher quality caps and inductors.

Those little IC's you marked got my attention now.

I don't know of any other TPA3255 modules that offer the stereo, mono and 2.1 modes of operation along with the balanced inputs.

The high quality 4 layer PCB sounds very high quality.

$165... I hope the price equates to very high functional quality.

THank you.

C1 to C4 looks like nichicon caps.
Nice, Class-d audio and I have the same thinking to use 4 tank caps, flat copper inductors, and EVM heatsink.

1. Ask them what they've used for linear post regulator, noise floor (THD+N score) mostly depends on it. Using LM2940 will give you same results as EVM (assuming that layout is good)
2. Looks like input capacitors are tantalum?
3. Post filter PBTL Mono mode will just give you capability into 2 ohms load, not performance gain. If you want more hifi and lower THD, 3eaudio approach is better which is Pre-filter PBTL Mono. Which uses only 2 output inductors.
(post filter PBTL not to be confused with post filter feedback, they are different)
4. If I do a layout in 4 layers copper I would have buried most of the traces in the inside layers to avoid copycats haha.

You're welcome.

I like the shielded inductors, so I'd keep them.

Caps 1,2,3,& 4 "look" like a mid-grade cap, so please inquire about them. If those caps are not to your liking, consider replacing* with the caps in my picture below.

The film caps in position 5,6,7, & 8 look reasonable if they are what I think they are. If you keep them, you could simply put a small bypass cap on each one. For bypass caps I'd consider: Kemet (RIFA) PHE426, Wima MKP 10, or a Russian PIO K40Y-9 all in a 0.01 uF.

If re-capping positions 5,6,7, & 8 I'd probably use either the MKP 10, or the PHE426.

Keep us up to date...

Thanks everyone.

Brainstorming with feedback.

I'd like to use graphene doped inductors and capacitors if possible for best applied electrical material quality parts for the amplifier board.

Also looking for superfast switching rectifier rectifier with graphene supercapacitor desigh if possible.
