Hi guys,
(I have tried the search but i couldn't find my answer, hopefully i used the right search).
I'm trying to find a panel mount connector for my phono preamp projects which should have 3 conductors for feeding power from my dual voltage power supply (positive/negative DC outputs plus ground) to the preamp .
I've been trying to locate something for a month now, and the only type of 3 pin connectors i found was XLR female (or male) panel mount connectors which i'm not sure if it's the right thing to use.
Have you any suggestion where should I look for such DC connectors ? I'm struggling with my limited electronic components knowledge...

Could use a DIN plug and socket, they are available in 3 pins or more.

I'm using these:
Amazon.com: Aviation Plug Connector 10 Pairs Male Female Panel Metal Wire Connector 16mm Socket (4 Pins 10-Pack): Home Audio & Theater
and they are very soild.
They also have 3 pin version, but these are smaller, less robust, so even I only use 3 pins out of 4, 4-pin connectors are better.

If you have access to RS, then here is a possibility - good to 1.0A, 48V.

.......a mini - DIN plug/socket (used in desktop computers)
or a 3.5mm tip-ring-sleeve connector like the one on your headphones........

Those look like aviation. XLR are better quality
Yes, aviation.
I need lots of amps - I use them for the PSU for power amps.
For pre-amp, I guess low amperage will suffice...
I would prefer to differentiate the power input socket from a signal input/output socket like a DIN or an XLR.XLR are better quality
Strictly speaking, the panel mount supply connector on the preamp should be male,
and the plug on the cable should be female. Best practice would be to use a captive
supply cable on the preamp, with the supply end of the cable having a male cable
mount plug, and the supply having a chassis mount female socket.

Behringer uses S-video like connectors on their small mixers.
One of them broke and I fitted a miniature aviation connector.
Working fine for two years now.
I wouldn't use a standard DIN or XLR connector since You can switch cables with catastrophic results. If You still want, at least use a 4, 5 or 7 pin that doesn't mate with ordinary gear.
