My quest- Need Best sounding Bookshelf as volume increases.
My criteria
1. Have to be Big cabinet
2. Sealed
3. Big soft dome tweeter ( i dont like ribbon or horn. They dont sound well when volume increases , also small tweeter is no good)
4. 8" woofer ( big woofer create boom bass. small woofer sound thinny)
5. 8 ohm impedence
Epos 14 fits but cant find it anywhere. Why no speaker manufacturers make big bookshelf. Eveyrone make towers.
ATC speakers out of my budget.
THere is no audiophiles in speaker manufacturer. All i see people ready to con buyers with all the magic design and technology...all focussing on home theater tiny speakers and big sound crap. I hate that room filling nonsense. Also bass extension on bookshelf is foolish quest. its not needed for music but they are focussing on different crowd i think.
There is no magic in the universe except human beliefs.

Can you DIY or looking for commercially made?
Have you looked at JBL 308P Mk2? It’s active though.
For value, If I wanted a big bookshelf with 8in and dome, I would use RS225-8 and RST28F-4 in a waveguide. Tune to about 36Hz.

How about giving us some dimensions. Approximately what size do you want? Id the Seas 28 liter close to what you seek?
This one comes close, and does not at all boom.
SEAS A26 Kit
that's a nice input, cause when at looking the Le of the bass driver : 3.6 mH can scary... Seems this kit has a good feeling not to fatigue listeners with long time playbacks.
The FAST of xrk971 should be something with the dayton and the SS 10F for extra resolution.
It’s a big 8in “bookshelf” speaker alright. Sealed 24L box. Fullrange/midtweet has sealed 1.2L back chamber. It checks a lot of boxes except that it’s not a big dome tweeter. What makes this work is the unique smooth wide bandwidth of the RS225-8. An SB65WBAC25-4 is almost like a big aluminum dome and would match perfectly with this to get response past 20kHz. Shown here is ScanSpeak 10F which goes to 16-18kHz.
10F/8424 & RS225-8 FAST / WAW Ref Monitor
XO PCB all worked out and design is ready to go:

A26RE4 = 3.8mH. 😉
Why 'scary'? The high VC inductance of the A26 is a deliberate part of the design; that's why it rolls off at the frequency it does.

That 3.8mH is basically same as 4mH I apply to the RS225 to get it to roll off at 900Hz as first order. Maybe that Seas might be a nice FAST/WAW without any added crossover components except cap on fullrange (instead of dome) like the Seas design.
after all Orang Outan speaker use a bodybuilded magnet of this 10" mid-woof speaker, so certainly not bad... I have good souveniers about these 10"+tweeter bookshelves speakers 🙂
If you want an ATC 50sl, buy it. If it is too expensive, whatever you buy for less will NOT be an ATC 50sl, there is no magic in speaker design.I need to simulate drivers of atc 50sl. Mean all have to be dome structure.
There ARE nice speakers, however. My nomination is the Wharfedale Linton Heritage, whose size is close to the Epos.

I spent quite some time listening at Audio Element; the Linton sounded nice throughout their entire shop playing Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, something classical (Telemann? I forget).
As a loudspeaker engineer, I would NOT want a cheap soft-dome midrange. Maybe an expensive one well executed. Otherwise I'd rather have a cone mid like the Linton.
