The Advent receiver $100 (with Holman phono circuit) 15W/ch amplifier, good sound.

Some cool stuff available.
I think the telescope making book is the one that my father had when I was a child. Really "from scratch" instructions, even to grinding your own glass to make the mirror for your reflector. He never did it, unfortunately, and never had the available dough to buy the Questar that he really wanted.

That's book one, of a three book series. The second and third books are more specialized.
Like father, like son: I checked out the Questar, still available, and I can't afford it either. 😉

There are Questar copies that are good enough for casual use, and they are much cheaper.
